Allegiant - More Weekly Flights At COS, BIL

Wed May 10, 2006 6:09 am

Allegiant is increasing weekly flights at a couple more cities which have responded well to the service. COS and BIL will both gain flights.

This means they have in the last 2 weeks increased flights at FAT, COS, and BIL for LAS.

Additionally SMX, BIS, ICT, PIA, MSO, and PSC are seeing temporary summer increases to LAS starting the end of May/early June. SWF, RFD, MFE, and ABE are seeing temporary summer increases to SFB.

COS (effective June 29) will operate twice a day on Sunday and Thursday,
Dep LAS 1:15 pm Arr COS 4:05 pm
Dep COS 4:45 pm Arr LAS 5:45 pm
Dep LAS 4:20 pm Arr COS 7:10 pm
Dep COS 7:50 pm Arr LAS 8:50 pm
and once a day on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday operating:
Dep LAS 1:15 pm Arr COS 4:05 pm
Dep COS 4:45 pm Arr LAS 5:45 pm

Billings will go to 3 days a week effective June 28. This is a nice addition for BIL since service only started in March.
BIL flights will operate Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Dep LAS 4:35 pm Arr BIL 7:45 pm
Dep BIL 8:30 pm Arr LAS 9:40 pm

Are these cities going to get the same service in summer 2007?because, I know MFE's service to SFB starts in June and ends in August.

It will depend upon how MFE and the others perform this summer vs. Allegiant having somewhere they would prefer to use the aircraft in 2007. In other words they need to book real well this summer.

Maybe they'll do better this summer. I know that G4 flew MFE-SFB for a couple of weeks but nixed the flights since it was winter.

I never noticed it before but apparently everyone except probably mechanics, has Tuesdays off at Allegiant according to flight schedules - no flights anywhere.

Tues is a slow day for leisure travel for nearly any airline. Allegiant uses it the way other airlines reduce flights on Saturdays.

Saturdays used to be a down day too. That went away. Tuesdays are going away too. Its a great way for us to catch up on maintenance and do crew and ramp training. Yes, all of the corporate types and most of the management works on Tuesday. A dispatcher is in for most of the day since at least one Harrah's charter usually flies on Tuesday. No dispatchers at the moment for late Monday/early Tuesday and late Tuesday/early Wednesday.

I agree. The airport is fully capable of flying to Olympia. The runway is just as long as SNA. The folks in Tacoma would eat that up pretty fast. Sea-Tac is kind of a pain to get to from Tacoma.

OLM's longest runway is 5500' which is actually a little bit short of SNA. An MD-80 to LAS would most likely some restrictions out of there because the runway is so short, and not to mention that the runway is only capable of bearing 117,000 pounds.

Maybe they could run a LAS-PSC-OLM and return the same way. That way one would only need enough fuel to get to PSC, therefore cutting out some weight. Plus, if either could not fill it, the other may.
But if PSC loads are great already, this would be a dumb idea.

I think perhaps Las Vegas- Redmond/Bend-Olympia could do OK 2x/wk.

Per AirNav: KOLM Runway 17/35
Dimensions: 5501 x 150 ft. / 1677 x 46 m
Surface: asphalt, in good condition
Weight bearing capacity: Single wheel: 55000 lbs
Double wheel: 69000 lbs
Double tandem: 117000 lbs

The MD80 uses a double wheel type landing gear. The MD87 has an empty weight around 79,000 lbs. The MD83 empty weight is up around 85,000 lbs. There is no way an MD 80 could possibly use this runway. It can't even be parked on it.
