Airbus Aid: A New Complaint To WTO

Wed May 10, 2006 3:51 pm

GENEVA -- The World Trade Organization set up a panel Tuesday to examine what the United States claims are further examples of illegal support by European governments for Airbus.

The United States, in asking the WTO to open the formal investigation, said the airplane manufacturer had benefited from millions in illegal launch aid, development financing, contributions and debt relief from the 25-nation European Union and its member states.

The EU blocked Washington's first request for a panel, but cannot block it now that the United States has made a second demand.

Actually, it's new news about old news.

It's exactly what was predicted would happen, and makes the whole process look that much more pointless.

Only a bureaucracy designed to perpetuate itself would set up a system such as this, where you have to do everything twice as a formality.

They should have just done the investigation the first time and saved the WORLD a bunch of money...
Of all the things to worry about... the Wookie has no pants.
