DL 732s - Where Do They Fly?

CVG has a bunch. I just flew CVG-BOS and I believe CVG-DCA is a 732 also.

DL has 26 737-200s, not 12.

Out of CVG:
CVG-ORD, CMH, DFW, ATL, TPA, FLL, DCA, RDU, BWI, EWR, LGA, BDL, and PVD.

From ATL:
ATL-CVG, ORD, STL, MCI, SDF, LEX, MEM, TYS, HSV, JAN, LIT, AUS, SAT, SAV, RDU, GSP, BUF, ROC, ALB, YYZ, and MOB.

DL 732s - Where Do They Fly?

Sat May 13, 2006 5:30 am

I just flew ATL-MOB on the 732 last weekend. Longest takeoff roll I have ever experienced when leaving ATL on the 732.

RE: DL 732s

Sat May 13, 2006 5:42 am

I know this question has probably been answered already but what is DL going to replace the 732 routes with? Are the planes being pulled from other routes, and they acquiring more planes of a type they already have (I doubt it but I figured I would ask), or are these routes going to be replaces with regional jets?

Thanks,
Brandon

The new DL pilot agreement has a payscale for the EMB 190/195, even though they haven't been ordered. I read this on another thread.

Mostly RJs on shorter routes, and MD-88s on longer routes where DL has repositioned them. Most of CVGs prior 737-200s flights have now become regional jets.

I can relate. The longest t/o roll I've had was on a Vanguard 732 DEN-SLC back in 1996...it was 54 seconds.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it TOTALLY nuts to flying 732's on such short hops as CVG- CMH/DAY/ORD and such. The fuel burn per ASM has to be quite high as compared to even CVG-DFW.

I'd think they would be scheduled on flights of at least 750 miles or longer.Such short hop use sure doesn't help the P&L statement.

Just my 2 cents!

Not anymore. MKE-CVG is all DL Connection now, and MKE-ATL has 2 MD-80s and the rest are CRJ-200s and CRJ-700s.

WN did AUS-DAL for many years and it's 189 miles and made a profit. I believe DAL-HOU is around 224 miles.

Here in CMH as of right now the DL 732 from CVG is one a day the thing comes in at like 8pm and doesnt leave til like 8 am or so. What a waste of an airplane. I know they do it because of crew rest and the fact that its the only 732 in here. But man oh man talk about poor aircraft utilization. Also the gate it parks on is occupied for 12 hrs (they dont repo it). Looks like next month we loose the 732 and it becomes a 738... Maybe we will actually be able to non rev somewhere.

Here in CLE we have a Comair CRJ that gets in at 2PM and doesn't leave till the following day. In the winter it came in at noon and stayed till 10AM the following day.

It has been years since I've seen an old DL 732 at SLC. I know that a few of the 737-300s are remnants of the old WA fleet they inherited back in 1987, but are some of the old 737-200s old WA as well?

What!? First of all I didn't know that DL only has 2 mainline flights to MKE but now they are taking all of these away!  hot  Why are they being downgraded? Is it because of empty seats or because of them in bankruptcy? It just really annoys me how all the big airline like CO, UA, AA, and now DL only fly small regional jets here to MKEbored

I flew ATL-PHL on the 732 last summer and I know they were into CLE from ATL quite frequently...not sure what the new schedule is and whether these two cities still get them, but I flew them last year a few times. Great to fly the old aircraft...sort of DL's answer to the NW DC-9s. (By the way, when are they gonna be replaced? hahaha)

DL's next schedule change occurs 08JUN and with that there probably will be a bunch of B732s retired after that. Currently DL has 21 active B732s and 1 in for mntc.

I was kinda hoping that, but during my travels into and out of HNL this week, it seems as if this ex-DL bird had departed. I didn't see it at AQ's maintanence facility. Unless it was off to some other location to be refurbished and painted there.

I just read in Aloha’s in-flight magazine that Aloha Airlines plans to add a few younger 732's this summer and one will be painted into the retro 'Funbird' scheme.

We get one a day or so in GSO, and while looking at a flight to LIT earlier today, I noticed that there is one ATL-LIT turn on the 732. Either way, I won't miss them...small F cabin makes it hard to upgrade, and the F seats are not that comfortable...flew one in January in 1B and wished that it was an MD-88.

You know, I don't get it. I see many comments, like I don't like the 732, or in fact add any small mainline aircraft here, because it is old, small or the there aren't enough first class seats to upgrade. Then I see comments of we don't get some large aircraft, like a 57 or 67, into our airport at some mid-sized city.

The B732 is a workhorse and has served DL and many other airlines very well. DLs 732s are some of the youngest out there. They are sent to markets where they fit, a need larger than a RJ and smaller than an MD-88. The fuselage is the same width as all other Boeing narrow-bodies, so I don't buy the line that they are uncomfortable. Yet, people still complain about them.

It seems that those complaining would only be happy if a 757, 767 or even a 777 served every market, regardless of size of the market. That is unrealistic and would do nothing but cause half-empty planes to fill the skies, needless to say the capex that would be required. Some of these smaller cities should feel lucky to have a mainline aircraft, like the B732 even serve them. And those who don't like the cabin because it is small or has a limited number of F-seats, remember once these are gone, you will most likely be flying an RJ and wishing they were back.

Now there you go using logic again. Don't you know that if A.nutters ran the airlines every city in the US would see 777 service while all European cities would see A340 service. There would be no coach seats and everyone could fly cheaply in front with 20 selections for dinner even on a 30 minute flight?

I was booking a trip to LAX in July on DL,and noticed the 732's will be replaced by MD88's in ROC. We don't get any Mad-Dogs in ROC since AA mainline left and the last time DL mainline left in June 03.

I will miss the 732's ,but MD88's will give them more capacity. I hope DL mainline will stay here year round.
