Does Florida West Have DC-10s In Their Fleet?

Sat May 13, 2006 4:47 pm

The question is self explanatory, because I was just listening to the scanner right now and I noticed this DC-10 climbing out. It's night, but I could recognise the DC-10 because of the engine sound and the landing lights on the fuse. However, the biggest issue for me is that once I managed to recognise the airline and I noticed the circular Gemini Air Cargo logo on the tail. But just now I noticed that these DC-10s are flying as FWL124 under the Florida West callsign. I tried to search the database for pictures but found nothing.

So again the question: does RF operate DC-10 freighters and are those just wetleases from GR or also from other airlines such as Arrow Air or Cielos?

Florida West leases a host of aircraft. For instance 747 flights are regularly operated by Atlas Air with FWL callsigns.
From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California

Quoting Laxintl (Reply 1):

So they're basically an airline without a fleet of their own (in terms of dry leases or aircraft they purchased)?

Florida West has a couple maybe a few B767-316Fs. The company is partially owned by LAN as I understand. They lease a number of aircraft on ocassion. I have seen Gemini DC10-30-Fs, Tradewinds B747Fs and others flying for them (i.e., with their callsign).
