Embraer Interested In Cooperation With A Or B

[Note: search function must be down as I tried to search on "Embraer" and zero hits were returned! Apologies if discussed, but I couldn't find it]

Seems like Embraer is putting out feelers for a possible JV with either Boeing or Airbus:
Embraer interested in co-operation on narrow jets

Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer said on Friday it was ready to co-operate with Boeing (BA.N: Quote, Profile, Research) or Airbus (EAD.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) when the two aerospace giants get around to replacing their current generation of narrow-body jets.

I remember reading (in FI?) a while back that Boeing would be targeting the E-190/5 segment with their next generation NB; one would presume that Airbus would do likewise. Embraer seems willing to concede serious compeitition in the segment and understandably wants to benefit via risk sharing and technology transfer. Could be a good move for Boeing to develop a "hemispheric" product offering....
