Priority Pass Card

Sun May 14, 2006 7:19 pm

Does anybody have the Priority Pass Card? I was on a BA flight and the ad for this card was in their magazine. It looks that the best option is $399 per year or two options that cost less but you have to pay $24 per lounge visit...

I have one, but have not used it once - the main problem being that when I am traveling in the USA, for instance, the Priority Club lounges always seems to be in another terminal. When in the States, I fly with United all the way. IIRC, there are no Priority Club lounges in the vicinity of United's gates at IAD, ORD, SFO, or DEN.

Becoming Star Alliance Gold, when SA entered Star Alliance, opened up a lot of lounges at no extra fee to me. I am considering canceling my Priority Club membership.

I've got one from my AmEx card (not sure if that's a benefit for the same US-based cards though) - this is the level where I can go in unlimited lounges for free each time (but must pay for guests on my AmEx). I've not used it yet since almost all of my flights are BA/oneworld where I have lounge access as Gold anyway. Useful to have in the back pocket 'just in case' though. I went to some priority pass lounges with colleagues before I had status a few years ago and they seemed nice enough (around Europe) to spend a few hours in away from the awful main terminals.

Not worth the money, unless you "sleep" at airports year round.

Had it, liked it. Go through their list of airports and terminals and make sure that you will be hitting those that are serviced by PP. $99 it's not a bad backup to have if you can afford it. (if that's still the price)

For example: they had only one(!) lounge at JFK, I think it was Korean Air, and it was only open in the evenings (coordinated with Korean's flights) Plus the way the terminals are spread so far apart it was silly.

But EWR had a lot of lounges in multiple terminals, with CO and UA on the priority pass list. It saved my butt the day after the northeast blackout a few years ago when I spent about 13 hours in the red carpet club at EWR.

My father has one, he travels 7 or 8 times a year. Although he's not too bothered about having lounge access, he uses it if a flight is delayed. He mainly flies from Gatwick; the south terminal can get rather crowded so it can be a nice escape route for a few hours.

My partner and I have the cards - honestly, its not a great program and is too expensive for what is offered.

I used to have it, but since i'm star gold, it doesn't make sence to pay for the high annual fee anymore. Additionally, Dinerc club International gives me lounge access (quite well covered thruout Europe, also in EWR, MIA).

I use it a lot for travel in the UK, Europe and the internal flights in the US. In europe and the UK the free drink makes it well worth it.

I use it some. I fly NW alot, and the NW worldclubs are part of the program. I bought the $99/$24 per visit deal. I use it afew times a year. Not enough to sign up for the unlimited usage, but having it when there's bad weather in MSP or DTW and being able to get away from the masses, its quite nice  Smile
