SQ A380 Revenue Flights

Mon May 15, 2006 11:02 pm

When will SQ start commercial flights with the A380 and what routes will they be on? I tried booking flights from LHR-SIN and FRA-SIN for Feb / March of 2007 but their website shows these flights being operated by 747s.

One thing you can guarentee....

As soon as it is known... it will appear here first.

I would imagine the first few flights will be sold out to pre-registered passengers.
So far in 2008 45 flights and Gold already. JFK, IAD, LGA, SIN, HKG, NRT, AKL, PPT, LAX still to book ! Home Airport LCY

They hope to commence commerical operations before the end of December 2006, on SIN-SYD, followed by SYD-SIN-LHR, asap after that.

SQ hopes to get the A380 into service before the end of the year - but without getting into a whole Airbus and the A380 and problems/delays discussion - it is possible that the EIS date may slip until early 2007.....we should know rather soon as to the exact date that A380 service will commence.

SQ has stated that it will operate the A380 on the SIN-SYD and maybe other regional routes for the first couple months of operations, for various reasons, but until the EIS issues are all worked out (and nothing against the A380, all new types have some issues) it seems that SQ wants to keep the aircraft close to its SQ base.

My guess is that LHR-SIN will be among the first routes to see A380 service, but the A380 may not be flying the route during Feb-Mar 2007.

So why have they not updated their booking engine with A380? Fair enough they dont know an exact date yet but surley they must have a worst case scenario date in mind and have all flights after this updated on the system. Just seems to me that they are missing out on possible bookings by not announcing it

Probably for that very reason, imagine if you made a booking specifically to travel on an A380 only to find that it has been replaced by a B744. I know I'd be disappointed. SQ will only put them on their system when they know for sure.
