DL ATL-FSD With A CRJ2

That's a looong route for a CRJ-200 I can imagine a CRJ-700..but geeze (~1000 miles).

The CRJ probably fits that market perfectly, in terms of capacity.

They sure aren't going to commit a 738 or MD-88 to that route....

Why not a E170 2 times a day? Its stupid the way airlines run service to places 12 times a day. That why Chicago and Atlanta are ALWAYS delayed. Why cant we have 4 757s a day between CMH and ORD instead of a boat load of 319s 735s and 170s?

Aye, that is long. But I can do you one better. US fly's a CRJ on the PHL-MCI route, and when there is bad weather, it feels more like a transcon.  wink 



So what route out there is the longest CRJ-200 flight?

ATL-FSD is only 954 miles. That's nothin' for a 50 seat RJ, anymore. XJT flies CLE-ABQ, a distance of 1,400 miles and it's not even their longest.

I know that NW flew (may still) Saturday-only MSP-TUS service. AC also used to fly YYZ-IAH with the CRJ-200, both routes are over 1,200 miles. DL also flies ATL-YUL, which is 1,000+ miles.

954 miles is quite a haul on a CRJ200 as compared to the 1,039 miles on the US PHL-MCI run you mentioned. But here is an even worse leg.

CO runs ERJ's from EWR to both TUL and OKC, resulting in 1,215 and 1,325 nautical miles, respectively. That equates to flight times of 3hrs 32 min and 3 hrs 45 minutes. That is 2 RJ's flights I would dread to be on.

Ive personally flown on ExpressJet, Houston-Pittsburgh, which is a decent haul. Personally I loved it more than the mainline 735 I flew down on. I was in the third row, on the A side. Was a rather enjoyable flight too!

Yep I've also flown on XJTs long RJ flights and have quite enjoyed them. There isn't much difference except for IFE, but most of the 733s and all of the 735s dont have any anyway. I'll take the smaller plane-- youre on quick, youre off quick, you fly fast and high and you get where you need to be.

I definately prefer the atmosphere of those little EMBs!

Anyway, the CRJ would not be as comfortable as the ERJ (IMHO) but congrats to Delta for expanding the domestic market out of ATL yet again. Best of luck to them.
