Beta Version Of The New "usairways.com" Is Now Out

Wed May 17, 2006 2:23 pm

It has actually been out for a couple of weeks, but better late than never.

It is just like the old HP website.

Not bad, seems a bit more organized, easier to read, or information seems easier to locate... Maybe it has to do with the extensive use of white.

Good thing. The USAirways site is/was about the most convoluted and difficult site out there.

Not too impressive, BUT if it works (better than the old US site), who cares. I mean couldn't they have come up with a less drab Home Page - guess it's because of the Desert Heat .

It's actually a lot easier to navigate, I'm looking forward for the new website to launch, I think is a lot more user friendly, I hope this way customer complaints about the website are reduced

No interactivce route map. Just a hard to read PDF you need to zoom-in to make out.

Hopefully the new website works better than their employees. I had the worst travel experience on USAirways last week that I've ever had. Particularly on the Express flights...

I hate how US and UA's route maps online don't have the route lines! Just the city names!

I hated US's old site, and was not thrilled with AWA's so that leaves me still with not thrilled. They should take a lesson from CO's.

I like the fleet page with all of the US Aircraft. The BE1s, E70s, ERJs and the DH8s look awsome in the new livery. I can't wait to see them on an actual a/c. Also, anyone know when the noise cancelling headsets will be introduced into the first/envoy class cabin?

I can't get the route map to load. Is it like the "old" US map currently on the website?

EDIT: I dont like this new hybrid WEBSITE....... love the new airline! Haha, just wanted to make that clear.

I really like it, US is quickly becoming one of my favorite US airlines! I especially liked the fact when I clicked Travel Center on the bottom right of the page it actually showed a real weather map! Maybe other airlines have this also but I think it is quite neat and helps let me know if I'm going to hit some bumpy weather before I head to the airport!

I think if they put together a page of aircraft types they DON'T operate, it just might be shorter.

Add me to that list too.

The HP site seems to be great if you want to book travel for
the lowest available fare, but when you want to do other things...ughh!

If you want to look at flight schedules, it is through a drop-down menu
with the cities listed alphabetically. You can't enter the airport codes.
Plus, there is no displayed calendar on the screen for you to click on
the specific date you want.

And one time I tried to book a multiple-city itinerary by schedule, and
that got me nowhere. An "error" display kept appearing after the system
tried to fare it out.

Let's hope that the "new" merged site is slated for improvements.  pray

Not bad. Its a big improvement on their old cluttered site. I still think that DL has the best site, just the simple stuff, very streamlined and clean.

Must be, because that old one sucked, had by far one of the worst travel search and booking engines ever.

This new site sucks too.

Really? Granted, it was not the best if you were trying to find the best deal out there, but I liked the way that I could select flights on the old US Airways page. I found it to be far better then anything AA, UA, or DL has. I just thought the US site had a nice amount of simplicity when it came to booking the flights you wanted..... sorry if people disagree!

The new management elected to bring Information Technology, which the old US had outsourced, back in house in Phoenix. What they are doing is trashing the old US stuff (operated by EDS) and spreading AWA systems all over the company.

So it figures that the new systems will look like the old (and very good) AWA systems

They should have gone for a completely new site. While HP's old site is definitely an improvement over US', both are really not that great, and a new site with better functionality and interface would have been a good investment. I seperate that, however, from HP's booking engine system on their website, which is actually quite good in my experience.

Will us Brits get a new US Airways website? Or if not atleast be able book on the US based website...

Currently usairways.co.uk is a joke, it has no booking facilities, some of the information is a year out of date and other information just forwards you on to the US website which is not relevent for foreign travellers.

The US website will not allow foreigners to book unless you have a US based address and credit card and displays all prices in USD which isn't much help when you want to book in your local currency like GBP.

When you call US Airways in the UK they quote you some horrendously expensive fare and reliant on booking through websites like Expedia.co.uk and Travelocity.co.uk, to get a cheap fare. - This does not exactly seem right when the airlines want to rid having to pay travel agents booking fees and commission to these websites.

The route map is basically the same as US' old one. While i understand that if they connected the dots in the East it would become cluttered very quickly, but it is nice to look at a map and not just see that US serves a certain city, but actually where they fly from that city.

The fleet page is a very nice addition, I always liked this about AA's magazine.

Who is online
