Saudi Arabian 747SP To Guantanamo Bay?

Thu May 18, 2006 5:20 am

WTF ? It seems to be coming from Nassau, and then it seems to be going directly to RUH ! What's going on here ? If you click on the flight itself, it can't be located.

That is very interesting.

I was looking over the just-released list of persons incarcerated at Gitmo, and the amount of names with residency of Saudi Arabia was staggering.

Do they race horses there? That plane comes to Lexington often for races, auctions and the equestrian hospital. Also a frequent visitor to Keeneland and Churchill is this guy I caught on Derby day at LEX.

UAE 747 at LEX for KY Derby

If they were picking up Jihadi, they could be getting a very interesting reception back in Saudi Arabia.

A few years ago, it probably would have been welcome home receptions.

After the bombings and the other things that happened in the Kingdom since, things could be....... different.

You can't click the flight because it isn't yet in the air, it's only SCHEDULED. When it's airborne you'll be able to click it and follow it.

Saudi diplomat: We'll get 16 Guantánamo detainees this week
By Miami Herald Staff Report

Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal said today that the United States would release some 16 Saudi nationals this week from Guantánamo Bay, Cuba -- the largest transfer of captives from the Pentagon's offshore prison camps in more than a year.

''It took us how many years to get them back?'' Saud told reporters at the Saudi Embassy in Washington, D.C., according to an account from the Associated Press. ``It hasn't been easy.''

The military still holds about 480 detainees at Guantánamo.

Detention center officials would neither confirm nor deny a large-scale transfer was in the works. Defense Department policy has been to not confirm transfers or releases until the former captives have been moved to foreign soil.

''We have a process in place for detainee movements from Guantánamo, which entails an official announcement as soon as a transfer or release of detainees is completed. We intend to follow that process,'' a Pentagon spokesman, Navy Lt. Cmdr. J.D. Gordon, told The Miami Herald in an e-mail message from the Defense Department to a reporter at Guantánamo Bay.

Saudi officials disclosed the foreign minister's remarks on the official embassy website.

''Upon their return to Saudi Arabia, the 16 will be jailed, and the proof against them examined,'' a website statement said. ``They will then either be put on trial or released. For those found guilty at trial, punishments will be determined by the courts.''

Saud did not release the men's names.

An estimated 100 Saudis are being held at the U.S. military prison in Cuba, some of them for more than four years.

Two Saudi citizens held here as enemy combatants are among 10 captives here facing trial by Military Commission at Guantánamo, the first U.S. war-crimes tribunals said World War II.

Ghassan al Sharbi and Jubran Qahtani were allegedly captured in Faisalabad, Pakistan, in March 2002, while plotting to set roadside charges to attack U.S. soldiers on patrol in Afghanistan.

BTW, the rwy at NBW is only 2400m (8000ft) long ! I wonder how the 747 made it nonstop to RUH from NBW, a distance of some 12000km ???

Must be quite 'important' prisoners to warrant an exclusive 747SP coming to pick them up.

Range of the B747SP full of fuel, crew and about 16 prisoners and accompanying guards would exceed 8,000 mi. (~12,800 km) which would easily make it from NBW to RUH.

Do the US really have UAE citizens? I thought they're hunting for Iran's government. But what about the UAE? I thought the rulers of the UAE are big friends with the USA!? And another question: I worked on some 747SP of this Royal Flight Service. What kind of prisoners are carried with this really magnificent planes? Only royal members? The US don't have members of the royal UAE family at Guantanamo Bay. Otherwise the states wouldn't work together that well. Please give me an update of this political confusion.

My point was that if the Saudi plane is the one I think it is, it has horse transportation facilities in it too. Both those planes come here regularly.

Next time it comes here I will shamelessly post that too.

IMHO, I would rather expect these prisoners to be carried in one of these ghost CIA planes than a five-star Saudi plane.

Aren't these dudes on a no-fly list by the way?

Or is this a new form of torture? I mean, flying 12+ hours in such a luxury jet which is the incarnation of arrogant wealthiness must be a torture for fundamentalist muslims who fight against our western wealthiness.

No one will ever know what's really going on at Guantànamo Bay base anyway...

Why MTOW, no need to carry ANY cargo and the crew and prisoners are VERY small compared to the aircrafts capacity? Also, the Rwy 10/28 at Gitmo is 8000 ft./2625 m. So what is the minimum takeoff distance required for the 747SP with full fuel and only about 40 souls on board?

Pentagon said 15 Saudi captives left Guantnamo
By CAROL ROSENBERG
crosenberg@MiamiHerald.com

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba -- A Royal Saudi 747 airline lifted off from this isolated U.S. Navy outpost before dawn this morning, carrying at least 15 Saudi captives to investigation and perhaps trial in their homelands.

The aircraft bearing distinctive crossed swords and palm tree on its tail wing arrived just before midnight Wednesday at this remote base's single runway airstrip amid a veil of secrecy that generally surrounds ongoing detainee operations.

That UAE plane above and the Saudi 747SP come to LEX use a 7000' runway and don't use it all, they do reverse thrust of course. Also, they have a lot of stuff on board including horses when they come here.

Sounds like a nice flight from the patriotic anti-Constitution zone brought about by a new level of US arrogance to the Saudi torture zone, backed by US oil money. And yes, the Saudi's know how to torture by every definition of the term, including the Pentagon's. God bless American/Saudi relations.
