NWA LAX-NRT B747-200 To B747-400

I was looking and seen NWA's putting a B747-400 on LAX-NRT. 03JUN06 is the last LAX-NRT B747-200 flight.... HKG-NRT Part is still B747-200

Until they change back again..Hasn't been back and forth over the past several years 400 to a 200 back to a 400.

The last time they changed to a B742 was because they had to return some B744 frames because of a lease renegotiation as part of the bankruptcy process. Evidently, these B744s have been reintegrated in the fleet once again, unless another transpacific is being changed to a B742.

The inter-Asian (NRT-HKG-NRT) portion of Flight #1/#2 will remain a 742 for the time being. Kind of ironic because in the past, it has been the other way around with LAX-NRT-LAX being the 742 switching to a 744 inter-Asia. In recent times, the 742 has covered the whole stretch from Lax to HKG.The entire operation of LAX-NRT-HKG-NRT-LAX has had many alterations to equipment over recent years.

I believe one of our HNL-NRT's is going back to a 742 from a D10

Yes indeed, NWA1/2 become 744's again LAX-NRT-LAX - NWA has refinanced all the 744s now and the last two at Marana come out of storage next week, May 24/25 I think. One to LAX to operate flt 1 to NRT, the other to SEA to operate flt 7 to get the aircraft to NRT to get back into the schedule. These are fleet numbers 6312/6313. Other flying that the 744s will be doing is a second daily NRT-HNL-NRT to replace a DC10 on flts 21/22. Both NRT-HNL flights will then be 744s. On a downside, 747-200 6637 will be retired soon - so may well operate flt 8 into SEA the day the 744 operates flt 7. At that point, NWA will operate 3 747-200 passenger aircraft - and they will operate NRT-SPN, NRT-GUM and NRT-HKG - but I wouldn't be surprised if HKG reverts to the 744 as well. As HB-IWC says, the -200s were operated on NRT-LAX flights due to the renegotiating of the leases of the 744 fleet and the planned parking of aircraft while they negotiated.
