This is a very good improvement in my opinion; look forward to seeing it up close.

Great shots Ron. Thanks for the update.

Hi Ron,

Congrats on your two very nice photos! The first one should become quite a rarity.

The aircraft looks much better in the revised livery. It's a shame US Airways made such an expensive mistake by getting it "not-quite-right" the first time around but I'm impressed that they listened to the feedback and improved the livery in a rather short period of time.

Much better! Glad they made it look more like an airplane than a toy. Allegheny deserves at least this much!
Oh...and nice shots Ron, thanks!

MUCH better. Big grin

There's a distinct curve to to the bottom of the cheatline now, and the grey is dark enough to provide a better contrast. Too bad they can't do bare-metal.

The logo on the tail also looks much better.

I find it amusing that an all three of these heritage planes, US has had to modify something In order to get it just right.

PSA - had to widen the smile (I'd have also tweaked the tail a bit).
Alleghenty - the whole damn plane, more or less.
Piedmont - Darkening the blue a couple shades.

At least US is bothering to do the work to get them right, though. That says alot for them.
I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance any day.

Much better, indeed. They still need to make the "US Airways" title red, to match the red Allegheny title, but otherwise it's excellent.

Thanks for sharing the photos, Ron. This grayhair remembers back to 1960 and Allegheny Convairs parked at DTW next to a NW Electra or DC6B.
I like the Idea of USAirways and the "throwback" paint schemes.
Now if we can get NW to do a 757 in pre meatball(early-mid 60's)scheme
along with a North Central paint scheme complete with Herman, that would be very nice.

Definately much better. The old one just looked kind of like Allegheny, the new one looks just like it. Now if only we can fix Piedmont now!  silly

At first I didnt think it would be much of a difference but the new one definitely looks better. I'm real surprised that US would re-paint the plane but good for them.

The thing that amazes me is that they are such subtle changes!
A little bit larger logo, slimmed up the cheatline, moved the reg, less paint on the nose....all could have been avoided had someone paid more attention in the design process.
Almost as if they came up with the design from being told what it looked like, as opposed to having an actual model or picture to work from.

I mean, it's not like it's a wholesale change or anything!

But as the saying goes, "The Devil is in the Details"

This is so much better! Good job US!

Goes to show everyone that this ISN'T your father's US Airways/USAir/Allegheny.....don't think they would have cared much!

I saw N745VJ on approach to DCA the other day. Great looking aircraft.
