Filming At Leeds-Bradford Airport

Fri May 19, 2006 10:13 pm

Does anyone know if there are any locations along the main runway at Leeds-Bradford Airport where I could film take offs and landings ? I would need to be above the fence (or any other obstacles).

You can stand on the wall at the 14 end of the runway, next to the cemetary and you should be on the same level as the tarmac - no fences.

If you want the 32 end, there is a small pat that leads along the side of the airport (have to know the area to find it), and it comes to a nice spot by the numbers at the 32 end. You would have the fence in the way though.

Alternatively, stand on the hill on the rough ground opposite the airport and film from there - although the Multishyte hangers have blocked most of the nice view.

If you have a good zoom, the Royalty pub on Otley chevin (white building on the horizion) looks over the whole airport.

Thanks for the information.

How close would I be to the end of the 14 threshold when standing on the wall next to the cemetery ? I would prefer to be at least a short distance down the runway length.

You can see a guy standing on the wall of the cemetary.

I forgot to mention this place. It's just above the entrance to the tunnel, by the gate to Multishyte (Yeadon side of tunnel). There is/was a bench where people could sit and watch the a/c.

This looks like it was taken from the hill (rough ground) opposite the terminal (but with a long lense).

These are the only 2 in the DB that I could identify as being from the path around by the 32 end.

I was going to modify the aerial shot of the airport from the DB to mark the spots and email it to you, but your email is withheld !!.
