Southwest At IND

Sat May 20, 2006 5:31 am

How many flights did Southwest have at the height of its IND operation? I know they did not have a ton but from what i remembered, they had a few. I think they even had 3 or 4 gates in the A concourse.
The next generation of aircraft is just around the corner!

Do you mean ATA? Southwest's operation has been pretty much consistant for the last few years. IND did loose its LAX non-stop though.

They had gates 1, 2 and 3 in concourse A but most of the time only used 1 & 3.

If I remember right, IND has had about 40 daily flights from IND. It is a significant operation to give them a strong presence, but they certainly don't dominate the airport. IND is not one of their growing markets.

NW has just over 40. WN has 16 I think. Or maybe 13.

IND doesn't have that much from WN.

4 MDW
4 BWI
2 MCI
2 LAS
2 PHX
1 TPA
1 MCO

Total: 16

WN did cut back a bit when Northwest expanded. IND lost nonstop service to LAX on WN and I think FLL.

I believe that WN had 23 at one time in IND.
That was when they had flights between IND and STL.
You are now free to be sexually harassed and then terminated for filing a complaint--Southwest Airlines to me.

Quoting Jeremy (Reply 7):

I have flown that route many times (OKC-STL-IND)a few years back and the plane was always at least 90% full on the STL-IND leg. I was surprised WN dropped the route but the best I can remember WN had some odd scheduling in the mid 90's and did not fly the route every day of the week which made it tough to get around WN's schedule holes. Easier to use TWA.
