FR & Singapore Tech Announcement Early Next Week

Sat May 20, 2006 10:15 pm

Allegedly, after many delays, Ryanair and Singapore Technologies have picked the location of their Central European heavy maintenance facility. The competition was between Riga, Latvia and Rzeszow, Poland. Announcement is to be made allegedly early next week, possibly late Monday or Tuesday. I have heard some rumours, who the winner is, but being realistic, I'm holding my breath until they make the announcement.

Ryanair will maintain its entire 737 fleet at the new facility, and Singapore Technologies will do maintenance contract jobs there for both civil and military customers.

From what I read is that the general manager of Jasionka airport (RZE) is going to Warsaw for "final negotiations" with Ryanair and Singapore Technologies on Monday.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Jasionka - the city of Rzeszow was working hard in order to get the winning bid, they gave the land for dirt cheap and even prepared so it's ready for the construction to begin later this year should RZE get the deal. The airport's runway is now capable of handling A380 and 747s at their MTOW, and combined with a planned new, truly international terminal this could mean a massive growth for the aviation industry in the region.
