United Domestic Cabin Upgrades

Mon May 22, 2006 11:44 am

I was flipping through BE aerospace website and found this seat

http://www.bepremiumseating.com/index.php?section=SAS&id=53

That looks alot like an upgraded version of the old UA Domestic F seat.

Anyone hear of any domestic cabin upgrades?

I would imagine they would be coming as the current cabins are a bit warn.

umm i don't think UA is upgrading there domestic fleet yet, i think there going to upgrade international first, than upgrade the domestic fleet. BTW UA domestic seats are farely new and in good shape. no need to change them.

That's definitely not the domestic United First seat, as that seat has an adjustable headrest.

If anything, this is more akin to the USAirways First Class seat that's onboard all of the narrowbody Airbus aircract (A319/A320/A321).

Also, I wouldn't look for enhancements to United's narrowbody First Class product – other than, perhaps, improved availability of EmPower.

I was talking about the seat they use to have before the current seat.

Those seats look worse than the current ones. The nice adjustable headrests are gone, and those seats don't look all that comfortable either. I honestly hope that those are not put in any planes. Other than being a little dirty sometimes, I think UA's domestic interiors are quite good. The seats were all replaced in the late 90s to include adjustable headrests and a slim design in both economy and first, and the current economy seats are getting new seat covers that are dark bluish gray instead of having the red/orange/blue pattern on them.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

I've always considered UA's domestic interiors very worn and in dire need of replacements! And that pic was from 2000! They don't look much better now, either, even with the headrests. The newer Airbus interiors were better, but still very dirty compared to at least DL and US. Having spent two-plus years cleaning UA and DL, I can definitely say DL was much, much cleaner!
