El Al 767 At IAD

Mon May 22, 2006 12:41 pm

Just wanted to give the DC folks a headsup that Israeli PM Olmert's chartered El Al 767 landed at IAD this evening...He'll be in the District for a few days...Any idea where they are keeping it parked?

They will keep it parked until Thursday on the F ramp at IAD.

Tomorrow as in Monday or Tuesday? Why is this? Why didn't they just fly into ADW in the first place???

This weekend was the airshow at Andrews- I guess they might have been short on ramp space? Or they just couldn't arrive due to all the aerobatic acts performing... I don't think the Blue Angels would take kindly to their show being interrupted due to an arriving 767- even if it was a visiting head of state...

a lot of the a/c that are normally parked at andrews get ferried over to IAD during this yearly air show, including those in the 89th airlift wing (the 747s used for AF1, the 757s, etc.) these a/c also operate out of IAD if/as necessary during that weekend, and i'd imagine other aircraft (such as those for foreign dignitaries) would use IAD as well.
