Is Biman Dropping JFK/NRT/SIN/BKK/CDG And FRA?

Fri May 26, 2006 1:45 am

Hi !

I was reading Justplanes.com's news sections and went through this:
Biman Bangladesh Airlines will temporarily discontinue services to New York, Tokyo, Paris, Frankfurt and Bangkok-Singapore as they are not profitable.

I've made a search on the forum but didn't find anything. Can someone confirm me they drop all these routes ?

Are they in deep troubles ?

Flight still display in the CRS. However, looks like flights have been closed and no bookings can be made at the moment on most destinations above (checked FRA and NRT). Did BG cancel some of its LHR flights? BG8 eg does show as NOOP.

Theyre ostensibly a 100x worse than Air India on its worst day.

They should have closed down years ago.

Meanwhile the Government of Bangladesh is sticking to its protective policies of giving foreign airlines minimal access to the country, subjecting the beleaguered locals to unreasonably high airfares. I wonder what's going to come of Air Asia's planned venture in the country.
