Air Transat Fleet

Sat May 27, 2006 3:48 am

the web site of Air Transat state that they have 15 A/C in there fleet? My understanding was they had 14 A/C: as follow 10 A310-300, 3 A330-200 and 1 A330-300 lease from dragonair... I would like to know if someone got the information for the 15 A/C not accounted for?

Is It a L-1011-500 sparing for the summer @ YMX in case of on tech problem in Europe?

Very curious to know.

thanks for the info

Add A310 C-GTSF to that list, recently received from TAP.

Since TS is still acquiring A310's, I take it there is no planes to replace them in the near future. Any planes of leasing more A330's?

My biggest regret to date is not flying on one of their gorgeous L1011s. Are they still in storage at YMX?

Last i heard at least 3 are still store at YMX...

As far as Transat goes i love to fly in there A330 the 300 espacialy with the 2-4-2 configuration... Club Transat is great on all there planes.

Those 310-300 are not getting any younger...but Transat got all wide body fleet... what is the life expentensy of those 310-300 another 3-4 years or 6-7 years???

Would like them to rent 2 B777 for the high density routes: YUL-FLL, YYZ-CUN, YUL/YYZ-POP/PUJ, YUL/YYZ-VRA (Winter) Yul-France YYZ-UK (Summer)

Would like to see transat aquired Embraer 190 with 90 pax to serve more non stop south destination from YQB, YHZ, and YOW...

i know i'm only dreaming

Indeed - you are dreaming!

Transat has carved a nice niche in the Canadian charter industry and they are a solid company as is. I suspect they will leave the smaller markets to other companies such as Sunquest, Conquest, and Sunwing. We don't want to see another Canada 3000 repeat!

Although I like the concept of a charter airline specializing in the small markets of Canada operating an E190 or A318. I think the smaller markets lose out way too often to the big hubs. "Build it and they will come!"

hey,

the charter flights with westjet are not by air transat itself, its by transat holidays, the tour operator along with nolitours. This company has set itself as one of the strongest in the Canadian tourism market, they know what they are doing. Air Transat flights are now being shared with Sunquest Vacations and Transat Holidays which is quite interesting in itself. These two companies are realitively close as Transat Holidays uses Skyservice, and Sunquest is now using Air Transat.

Are the Tristars in storage -100s or -500s? I'm pretty sure they're -500s but I don't remember off hand.

Westjet is using some plane for charters subing for Transat, Transat holidays, signature, TMR, and others are selling vacations package and using some westjet planes depending on where you are located in Canada...

In Quebec, Transat holidays, Nolitour, TMR and signature are the 4 majors tour operatour... first 2 are link closely with AirTransat the other 2 with Skyservices... but when there plane (partner) doesn't serve the destination they buy seats on the other available carrier (charter)

my 2 cents

How small can you possibly be to enjoy flying in the TS A330s? While in the -300 you don't get elbows to the gut like in the -200, the seat pitch is still terrible. I'll take Zoom any day - too bad they aren't more frequent to MAN in the summer...

For the winter season back a few years ago a pair of 737-400s were also used. They seem to be using 737-700s from WS out of a number of cities in canada during the winter months.I also remember seeing a TS 757 in air 2000 colors about 6 years ago.
Guess what???I dont like you either...

I think they'll just keep using/expanding their agreements with WestJet and CanJet. I'd love to see TS use an A310 this winter from YOW on the more heavily travelled sun routes to VRA and PUJ.

This past winter YOW's international seat capacity increased 22% and traffic also increased 22%, which goes to show if you build it, and there's a demand they will definitely come.

Good question - the A310 is an aircraft that has no successor in the Airbus line-up. Many (European) airlines replaced their A310s with A332s, but the A332 is a much bigger aircraft than the A310 and the extra seats offered by the A332 could be more of a liability than an asset to Air Transat. And, with the A350 family a "moving target" at the moment, its difficiult to make any predictions, but even the "old" A358 was about the size of an A332.

The 787-8 seems like the most logical replacement for the A313.

I had read in the Montreal Gazette a few months back that the airline was looking at purchasing newer aircraft, however it was not a high priority at the time. Don't know if that has changed.
