Why No XX Airline Srvc XXX & XXX

Mon May 29, 2006 12:19 pm

It seem to me that these questions, especially in the US domestic market are pretty self explanatory.

If UA, for example, thought they could make money flying DTW-CVG they would, but it is not a market they can enter.

So, why try to one up airline management, when they have tons of data at their finger tips which tell them which routes they can profitably fly?

In the international market it is more complicated, but isn't he answer obvious to all...if XX airline thought they could make money, they would do it.

Could be aircraft availability. Could be bureaucratic restrictions. Could be seasonal factors. Could be onerous labor agreements. There is no one obvious answer for every case.
