Maximum # Of Codesharing Airlines On 1 Flight?

Mon May 29, 2006 11:36 pm

The ZRH-BOM flight operated by LX carries flight numbers of the following five carriers:

1.) Swiss (LX 154)
2.) Air India (AI 6154)
3.) Air Canada (AC 6822)
4.) United Airlines (UA 8614)
5.) American Airlines (AA 6314)

(BTW: No LH codeshare !)

Is this flight a record holder when it comes to the number of codesharing partners ?

5 is pretty much standard already, and is pretty often seen here at HAM on LH flights to FRA, with NH, AC, TG, SQ and BD being the most regular options. IIRC, I have occassionally seen one flight with 7 codeshares on it, HAM-FRA on LH as well, but I'm not sure about that.

I remember looking at GLA a few times and counting no less than 13 flight numbers being shown for a BD operated shuttle LHR-GLA! There was the usual Star Alliance codeshares, along with MH and BI!

Just further proof for my believe that the large alliances, particularly *A, as they seem to be the most extreme user of codeshares, use their own alliance codes, e.g.
LH006 HAM-FRA
*A1275 HAM-FRA

or something to that extent.

Confirmed. Longest part of the checkin is the gate gal reading the list of cooperation airlines...  Wink

Same with KLM, also many flightnumbers on 1 flight.
Only difference is that Schiphol Airport is showing all this flightnumbers on TV-teletext.
Actualy you have to wait some time to pass trough many pages to get an hour further in the flight lists...

Indeed! That's almost as annoying as the constant "attentie alstublieft"...  Wink

... which always start with "attentie alstublieft" and almost always end with a strict "We will proceed to unload your luggage!" Big grin

Brussels gets a share of this with local airline SN codesharing on anything that has a pair of wings and with the alliances having hubs nearby. The BD flights to LHR sometimes a dozen codes, the LH ones half a dozen, the KL ones a few of their own, etc.
I want the European Union flag on airliners.net!

It would be nice if the codesharing could be simplified by only using the operating carrier and/or a carrier code representing the alliance. How about all Oneworld partners using Ow,Star Alliance SA and Skyteam ST? It would surely clear up all the clutter!
