Questions On DFW New International Terminal

Wed May 31, 2006 2:04 am

Hi all, i wonder if anyone used the new international terminal at DFW yet? i'll be flying in from NRT & catch another flight to ICT, both on AA.
My question is, after clearing the custom & immigration, where do i drop off the luggages for my connecting flight before leaving the terminal ? (presumably i have the boarding pass for the flight to ICT)
Do they weight the luggages again when i drop them off?

i tried the DFW website, its not clearly identify where the connecting counter is in the 'secured' area, unlike ORD's.

thanks for the assistance.

Once you clear customs, there should be some AA agents in the customs area that will reroute your bags for the connection to ICT, then they will be ramp transfered to the ICT gate.

I think there's a counter right after you go through customs to take care of that. I've never checked luggage while connecting there, but have been through several times.

It's a beautiful terminal! Enjoy.

Actually, neither of the above is correct. You will need to claim your bags, proceed to the curb, then hail a cab to Dallas Love Field.

You see, in 1997, Kansas was added to the states exempt from the Wright Amendment. It is now an immutable fact that the DFW may not derive any economic benefit from your international air travel.

thanks guys for the comment... ha ha, Justplane your are funny... too bad SWA has no first class... & SWA doen't even fly to ICT...

anyway, i know in ORD they have a counter where i can just dump my back & then exit the secured area & take the train to domestic terminal... & in LAX i can dump them right at the TSA after i came out of the 'secure' area.... this is the firs time i transit international flight in DFW & the webpage is useless...

It's been about 4 months since I've arrived into the new DFW International Terminal, but, as others have said, I believe there are baggage re-check counters for onward domestic connections past the immigration/customs inspection areas. Since AA makes up just about the entire terminal, you should have no problem finding the AA desks.

One thing you reminded me of with your comment above -- at DFW, the inter-terminal transit is within security, so I would think the easiest thing to do is to go upstairs in Terminal D, go through security, and then take the monorail to your departure terminal. But I'm sure the folks at the re-check-in desk can help you if you have any questions there...
