Whose 747 Did I See?

Wed May 31, 2006 6:31 am

This morning, I was at ORD concourse F around 9:00, and I saw the tail of a 747 that I didn't recognize. From what I could tell, the fuselage was white, the area below the tail was red, and the tail was grey with a hollow white circle with a red shape inside. The shape was kind of like a chevron.

Does anybody know what airline this was?

Hmm...it's a tricky one, all i can think of is Cargolux, although its a freight carrier...

Hey FlyingNanook. Looking at the rosters on flightaware.com for any arriving or departing B747s around the time you saw it, the one that sticks out is JAL:

Is that it? If not, I'll keep looking, 'cos now my curiousity's piqued! Lol.

Where was the a/c located, towards the intl. terminal or across the field towards the cargo area?

edit: The cargo 360 fits perfectly however looking at flightaware they are not showing it arriving at all last night/ this morning, nor has one taken off since 9am, is it possible that since they just received their certificate that it is not showing up on trackers yet?

I found on this acars site that N301JD did the GGC660 on the 28th May 2006 picked up at 22:21 GMT, dont know if this is in ORD though, as it ran other flights in the week, and the flight to ORD from JFK was GGC620

Maybe this "Cargo 360" are doing some wetlease ops, in which case their flights would carry the lessor's code, eg VarigLog or JAL Cargo or whatever.

FlyingNanook, it may be helpful if you gave us some more info. So where was the plane heading? Did it go to the international terminal? The cargo area? Had it just landed? Was it heading out of ORD?

BA0284-That's it! It's a Cargo360! Thanks!

The only other info that I know is that it was taxiing in the direction of terminal 1 from Terminal 2. But that doesn't matter since BA0284 correctly identified it.

Ah, glad to see we got that sorted out. Who is Cargo 360 flying for/as? I didn't see them in FlightAware, unless I totally missed it.

So, what prize does BA0284 get?  scratchchin   biggrin

Found it! GGC713 departed at 9:12 ord-anc. It shows up on flight tracker when you list by departures but not if you type in departing and arriving airports.

No Brazilian Airline is allowed to do wet leases.

That's the one I bet . . .

I saw this in ANC a week ago . . .

Had to do a double take, and then saw it in June 2006, Airways Mag, on page 2. New SEA based cargo carrier . . . .former KE 747-300F.

Cargo 360 is a company a former executive from Korean Air set up to lease aircraft back to KE Cargo. One aircraft is currently operating, a second will be online this month. I know they are getting the B747-300SF KE has and possibly some of the B747-400BCF.

Of course most of this information is second hand and no telling how much is correct.
