As I understand, Airbus has been offering such a good deal on these 3 airframes to CX that the airline had no other choice than to keep the aircraft in the fleet during the last lease extension. Now that CX is firmly going for the B77W, Airbus might not be interested in offering a continuation of the deal either.

That's right, but still, CX is believed to enjoy such a great deal on those 3 airframes that it would have been almost criminal not to extend that lease agreement that last time around.
