Does PHX Has A Maintenance Facility For United?

Sun Jun 04, 2006 3:23 am

six months ago, in september i was driving by sky harbor, and i noticed that there was a United 767-300 with the old color parked at a remote area toward the east side of the airport. i wondered what it was doing there. well, on may 13, 2006 i was coming back from SFO on United and we landed and i saw a 747-400 for United parked at that same area, and i even asked the flight attendant and she was surprised that there was a United 747-400 at Phoenix, and she couldn't answer.

any ideas on what would be possible out there?

No United doesn't have any maintenace at Sky Harbor. The planes in question could have been enroute to Goodyear or Marana for storage or coming back out of storage. Recently a couple of ex-UA's 747-400 have been sold and have stopped at PHX enroute to AMS for repainting and service for the new owners.

Corsair flies at least 5 ex-United 744's. F-HSEA, F-HSEX, F-HSUN, F-GTUI, and F-HKIS.

Agreed with AirCop, aircraft will often (but not always) stop at Sky Harbor enroute to or departing Marana and Goodyear etc.
