EasyJet Name Change Question

Mon Jun 05, 2006 7:52 am

Apologies for this question, but before paying easyJet £0.65 per minute on the phone, I thought I'd try you helpful people here!

My father has just booked flights with easyJet from LTN for the family and some friends. I've just noticed he's put the name 'Ray' for one passenger (which is what he is always known as) instead of what should presumably be 'Raymond'. So - would just turning up on the day be a risk? Could he be denied boarding? Would it be best to pay the £15 per leg (so £30 total) admin fee to add four letters to the name in his booking?

Many thanks!

I spelt my dad's name wrong on an easyjet booking once (Christoper instead of Christopher) and they changed it free of charge on a phone call - I'd say better safe that sorry and call them up.

normaly we say "up to 3 false letters is ok", but personally I don't think that it occurs any problems.

OK, thanks for your replies. I'll get him to give easyJet a call tomorrow and explain the situation to them.

For those who are interested, my dad called them today (had to hold a while, but that was no problem) and they changed it free of charge. That's good service from easyJet. I wonder if Ryanair (who I have travelled with, and will continue to use where required) would have made this change without a charge? Thanks easyJet!  Smile

Probably not, but that's why Ryanair make more money than easyJet.

A friend of mine was charged 150 euro for changing the surname of his travelling buddy (he had booked it in the wrong name). Having said that, Ryanair came up trumps for me when I arrived at the check-in desk five minutes after it had closed. I was referred to the sales desk, and, because I only had hand luggage, they accepted my booking. Coming back I lost my reference number and had myself convinced that I'd have to fork out 100 euro plus for a new ticket, but the check-in girl was satisfied with just my passport.

So they're not always as bad as they are made out to be.

My passport says "Samuel", but I've been "Sam" on many plane tickets in the past and no-one has ever said (or done) anything about it.
