JL & NH Widebody Fleet Allocation

We don't see many 773s at NGO and I have seen few at KIX when I have been there. Here at NGO we see 767s and 772s and one 747 (300 or 400 doing a Hawaii run).

Where do JL & NH station their 767s, 772s, 773s and 744s?

How many are based at HND, ITM, KIX, NRT, NGO, and other Japanese airports?

Well here's a brief rundown:

NH's entire 773ER/772ER & 744s are based out of NRT. NH's 763ERs are based out of NRT & KIX with one allocated at NGO for the NGO-PVG run.
NH's 773s are primarily based out of HND with one or two rotating out of ITM for trunk routes such as ITM-CTS or ITM-OKA. The 744Ds & 772s are pretty much all HND based. 763s are all over the place with most based out of HND and a few at ITM. The A320/73G/735 are not really concentrated anywhere in Japan. The DH3s are all based at OKD (Sapporo Okadama) with the exception of one at HND. The DH4s operate primarily out of ITM but a few at NGO & FUK.

JL's 744 are also pretty much NRT based with the exception of a few at KIX. Same can be said for the 747 classics too. The four 773ERs are NRT-based. The 11 772ERs are based out of NRT, KIX & NGO, with two a piece at NGO & KIX & with the remainder at NRT. The internationally configured 763/ERs are based out of NRT, KIX and NGO.
JL's 744Ds are all HND based. The 773s are primarily HND based with a couple rotating out of ITM. The 772s are based primarily at HND with a couple rotating out of ITM and one at NGO. The 763s for JL are used throughout its domestic system with no real bases. With the AB6 being solely used for domestic routes since the JAS merger, most fly out of HND now.
The MD81/87/90/734 are not really concentrated anywhere in Japan. The 734s of Japan Express & JapanTransOcean are used interchangeable throughout the route system. The DH4s are operate mostly from ITM & Kagoshima. The CRJs mostly operate from Nagoya Komaki & ITM. The Saab 340s are used on regional routes in Western Japan plus three based in Hokkaido.

Where do JL and NH currently fly their 773s?

How about those 11 772ERs? I know that one we have here goes NGO-CDG.

Some info on the NH international operation:

There are only 4 777-200ER's in the fleet right now. JA707A, JA708A, JA709A, AND JA710A. The rest are 777-200's. The Rotation for them right now is NRT-IAD, and various destinations through asia out of NRT, primarily SIN and BKK. As a note I saw somewhere that JA715A was listed as a 777-200ER. This is incorrect...

The 4 777-300ER's in the fleet are currently on the NRT-JFK, and NRT-SFO routes in North America, NRT-SIN on Sunday's and IAD will have 3 more 777-300ER operations until the daily flight starts July 1. This will change when JA735A enters the fleet and the routes will be to LAX, JFK, and IAD out of NRT daily, NRT-SFO will revert to a 777-200ER until October 1st when it will again be operated by a 777-300ER.

The 747-400's are planned for phase out, and this is happening rather quickly as their utilization is becoming less and less. Mostly operated on the European routes, with the exception of NRT-LAX for the moment. Two "New Style" 747-400's, JA401A and JA402A have been converted to domestic models. Interesting as these are some of the youngest 744's in their fleet. from the begining of 2007 the 747-400's will all be replaced by 777-300ER's.

As for JL's 11 772ERs, three are in short/medium-haul configuration (JA701J, JA702J, & JA703J). The rest are long-haul configurations.
The two based at NGO do: NGO-CDG-NGO-PUS-NGO.
The two based at KIX do: KIX-LHR-KIX.
The remaining seven based at NRT do the following:
1. NRT-SIN-NRT
2. NRT-PEK-NRT
Other routes are NRT-CDG, SVO, DEL, ZRH, PEK, ICN, PVG and probably other routes that are operated on a non-daily or ship change basis.

Have to take a "Doh!!" on that one. Just got the info JA715A will go into service tomorrow and is a 777-200ER bringing the fleet total to 5...

By "configuration" do you mean cabin or airframe, as the winglets on these aircraft were removed in 2003.

NRT-CDG is since June 1, operated by B777-300ER instead of -200ER. Only -200ER service to CDG is NGO-CDG.
AMS will get -200ER soon instead of 744

744 JA8911 is based at HND for the moment, being an international model.
