AC Executive Class To HK

Wed Jun 07, 2006 11:42 am

I'm flying to HK from YYZ next month; via YVR on the way there and direct on the way back. Is there a big difference between the Exec. Class on the A343 and the A345?

Would love to hear of past experiences!
Cheers

I don't know the major difference but I know that the A340-500 have PTV in Y whereas the A340-300 doesn't.

I don't know the other major difference but enjoy the view when the aircraft is taking off!!! I guess you will get a better view of the surface on the A340's (not an insult) opposed to the B744 which I think is a good thing.

Oh but one thing, when you stop in YVR, enjoy the executive class lounge of Air Canada. I don't know if its only the arrival lounge but I hear they have showers and they even clean your jacket or clothes while you are taking a shower.

Yes there is a big difference between the A343 and A345 cabins, most noticeably the lie-flat seats that only the A345's have.

Are the lie-flat seats comfortable? I've heard mixed things about them...

They are 'ok'. They're nowhere near the comfort levels of some of the asian carriers eg SQ, CX. But they will suffice for sleeping. AC won't be replacing them as they will be disposing of the A345s when the new 777-300ERs and 777-200LRs come online. These aircrafts will have the fold out bed ala Air New Zealand and Virgin Atlantic.

Thanks for the info. I am to fly to Tokyo from yyz in 10 days. I was thinking of AC with the non stop. I am used to the BA Club world and business class having a bed. Am I getting the reclining seat on that route or is it a bed?
there is economy class, business class, first class...then Concorde..pure class

If its an A343/A333/B763 then you will be getting a reclining seat. As for the A345 (which doesn't operate to Tokyo), it reclines to 170 degrees - but don't quote me.

I flew the 345 in Y class just over a year ago. It's a beautiful aircraft, and far superior to AC's 343s. Executive class is much more modern on the 345 as compared to the older 343s.

Take the 340-500.

Well I'll be taking both, so it will be interesting to see the difference.
