With Africa's GDP at 6% growth this year. Africa is attracting the attention of the world, as a excellent place for a quick buck.
Although the prospects look promising for Africa, as you have mentioned, it is far from being a place offering a 'quick buck', unless you are talking about non-African carriers starting African routes (like Emirates or Qatar Airways).
Foreign investors investing in existing or start-up African airlines have to surpass several hurdles, relating to poor airport and navigation infrastructure, buraucracy and to some extent political uncertainty in some regions. Nontheless, investors are aware of the LONG TERM market potential. The African continent offers a wealth of opportunities waiting to be tapped into. Many countries have embarked on serious reform programs, so there seems to be light at the end of Africa's tunnel.
