Qantas Operations At LAX

Sun Jun 11, 2006 10:10 pm

Hi all,

Been doing some research on Qantas and their operations at LAX. I noticed terminal 4 is only used by QF and AA, however QF arrivals only. Do ALL QF flights from Australia arrive in terminal 4, then are towed to a remote area before being towed to the Tom Bradley for the outbound flights to Mel/syd/bne?

Why do they arrive at terminal 4, when most international flights arrive at the Tom B terminal?

Thanks

I think all Sydney bound flights from LAX depart from T4 and all other flights which go to Melbourne, Auckland and Brisbane depart from TBIT.

No, not all QF flights arrive in T4. QF 175 from Brisbane and QF103 from MEL arrive in TBI. flights from SYD and QF93 from MEL and QF25 from Auckland arrive at T4.

don't know why this is so....could it have something to do with the codeshare with AA. Do QF code share all their flights with AA ? Or just capacity at T4 ?

The Admirals Club in T4, very spacious and brand, has dual branding: Admirals Club and QF Kangaroo Pit or whatever their club is called.

It's good by American standards, but nowhere near the standard of the Qantas Clubs in Australia, SIN, etc. Food, drink, bathrooms, business centre, space.....

QF have departures to SYD in T4. I asked this question a week or so ago since I will be flying this route next month.

Cheers Mate,

No map is wrong, not all arrivals are at T-4. QF runs a split operation between TBIT and T-4 for both arrivals and departures.

All QF arrivals into LAX will be cleared customs at T4. Although they may deplane at TBIT, they use the undercover outside concourse link to T4 where pax use the Customs, baggage claim and recheck facilities for forwarding flights. (having done that for my past three flights from Australia)

All QF departing flights out of LAX to SYD and JFK will be from T4. QF flights departing to MEL,AKL and BNE will use the TBIT.

I think QF would love just to use T4 however its pretty hard on a FRI night when in the space of 3 hours you have 6 x 744 departing for Australia / New Zealand ( 3 to SYD, 1 ea to AKL,BNE/MEL).

What with A380 ops stating MAY 2007 for QF, rest assured they will have to use TBIT. Can the A380 use T4? I hope some of you experts back in the states can handle that question for me.
