Rod Eddington On The Airline Industry And China

Mon Jun 12, 2006 3:19 am

I don't know if this has been posted before (I did a search), but I have just finished reading a speech on the internet given by Rod Eddington, the former CEO of British Airways. Although he made the speech in October 2005, neverthless I feel he makes some interesting points, particularly on the competitive challenges China and India pose to the rest of the world.

It is quite long, but an interesting read:

Rod Eddington's Speech to the Aviation Club of the UK

Incidentally, my best quote from the speech is this one:

Quote:
I want Britain to be a world leader. I'm an Australian by birth. And while I grieve for the Ashes (enjoy them while you can), I can take comfort from the fact I'm British by descent, I'm proud of what Britain's given the world, and I want this country to stay at the top of the world in trade and political leadership.

I never thought I would ever hear an Australian say something like this!
