Portugal To Sign For BE-200?

Mon Jun 12, 2006 10:05 pm

Portugal's Ministry of Internal Administration and Russian aircraft manufacturer Irkut have signed a contract under which Portugal will take a two-month lease on Russian amphibious aircraft Be-200 on July 1. The aircraft will be used for extinguishing forest fires. Irkut will provide the crew and will also service the aircraft. Portugal might eventually purchase four aircraft from Irkut

That is correct, the Beriev will be based at Ovar Nato Airbase (LPOV - south of OPO) and we hope not to see it too many times in action!

Last years' fire season was a disgrace!

Well that makes more sense. I was wondering why the purchase of a king air 200 would be worthy of a thread start.
When in doubt, one B pump off
