Crossing The Pond With Alternatives

Wed Jun 14, 2006 5:21 pm

Hi there,

sorry in advance but this is my first post here.

During my last trip over the atlantic a question came into my mind asking where to go in case of an emergency/failure. I know quite a bit about ETOPS but where can all the heavies go if something happens. KEF comes up. But what / where else.
Thanks for all the answers from the experts  old

Depends on your route of flight, but Lajes (LPLA), Santa Maria (LPAZ) and Bermuda (TXKF) are used on a mid atlantic routing and Gander (CYQX), St John's (CYYT), Stephenville (CYJT) and Shannon (EINN) on a more northern routing.

Hi Perfguru, let me be the first to welcome you to the A.net!

A good site to look at when talking about these things is Great Circle Mapper, which can be found at http://gc.kls2.com/, and don't be sorry!
