The Aircraft You've Never Flown On

Mon Jun 19, 2000 10:25 am

Is there an aircraft (past or present) that you've wished you could go on, but have never gotten the chance?
Well, I have a lot. My two would have to be the A340 (I want to feel that "slow" takeoff for myself) and the A330. Being from the United States, the closest airline A340s are operated on are Air Canada. But, I don't have the time nor the money to make a long-haul flight. Can't wait for an opportunity to travel USAirways A330's somewhere. (Hoping desperately for a trip to Europe)

Well, that was like a doctoral dissertation! So, your turn.

I'd love to get on *any* Airbus (still waiting!), *any* turboprop, a B777, and an Embraer ERJ.
It'd be nice to get one last run on a DL L-1011 before they go, as well. 727 too.

I'm a fan of the oldies- I wish I could have flown on a DC-8, and maybe a L1011 before they're all beer cans...

I've never had the chance to go on a 767. - it was the equipment listed to used on an Air Canada flight from YYZ to YUL last year, but there was a last minute equipment change to a CRJ! (The CRJ was a pretty nice plane and it was my first time on one, so I'm not complaining.) The YVR-HNL route also tended to get stuck with those DC-10s until recently, so I never did have the chance to fly on a CP 767, either. Others include the A330 and the A340, both of which are operated by AC.

There hasn't been a Airliner plane that I haven't flow yet, But I would really like to get a last run on the
L1011 tristars before they go!!

P.S. What I mean is that i have flown all the Airbus, Boeing, MD's and I've only flown on the Fokker 100's as far as Fokkers go.

The one jet that I've never been on is the Boeing 707. I think it would have been pretty neat to be on one.

I would say the 767, 777 or any Airbus plane. The next plane I would like to ride on would probably be an Airbus plane, especially the brand new A330 or the A340, or perhaps the 777.

Dc-8`s And Others Cool Aircraft.

Mon Jun 19, 2000 12:38 pm

I would like to fly on a Dc-8
and it would also be cool to fly on a 727 and 757
but I really wanted to try that Airbus 340 and 330 aircraft. And yes I live in Canada so it would be easy to get a Air Canada flight.. only problem they over charge.

Been on:
DC-9s, Dc-10-30 (a lot of fun), MD-80s, MD-90s, Boeing 727-200s, 737-200s and 300s, 757-200, 767-200 and 300ERs, Airbus A300B4s and 600Rs (my favorite), and TriStar L-1011 (too bad they are a dying breed, fleet rather)

Would love to fly on:
Airbus A330/340, Boeing 747s, 777s and OF COURSE, the Concorde.   Don't have the smoke to travel on one.

I'd also like the chance to fly on a DL L1011 before they are retired. I've never flown on an L1011, and it looks like I probably will never have the chance.

I'd also love to fly on a 777 and an A330. I'd like to compare the two and see how alike or different they really are in terms of comfort, noise, etc. I did get the chance to fly on a 737-800 for the first time this morning (CO). It was a bit uncomfortable in coach, as the seat pitch was a bit tight. I'm 6'1", and when the guy in front of me reclined, my knees were jabbed into the back of the seat. Maybe AA is onto something taking seats out of their planes. And remember, I'm a die-hard CO fan. Anyway, the service was great, the plane was clean, and the Wheaties were tasty, haha!

Yes, like so many of you, my repertoire of aircraft flown is fairly small. There are many types which I would like to fly on, with the 777 being foremost in my mind. Other types desired are:

A319/320/321
A330/340
737NG
767 of all varieties
747-400 (I have had only 1 747 flight, on a UA -SP)
MD90/717

Maybe in time, I guess. A DC-10 flight would also go down well.

Derek H--wanna fly on a Saab 340 huh? Come visit your state capital: fly Mesaba from FSD.

What I want to fly on:

Modern:
Boeing 717
Any Airbus
Concorde (when I get the cash)
CRJ or Avro RJ

Classic:
Ford Trimotor
DC-3
Super Constellation

I think it has to be Concorde.

I'd also like to compare the A32x and the 737NG within a short space of time.

Seat 1A on a BA 747-400 (never been on this variant) would also be quite nice...

I am very fortunate to have flown on most of the first-generation jets, including 707 (all variants), DC-8 (all variants), CV-990, Caravelle, Trident, Comet, DC-9 (early models), Fokker F-27. But I would love to experience both ends of the speed spectrum, namely:

Fast and high: Concorde

Slow and easy: Any propliner, esp. DC-3, Lockheed 1049 Constellation, DC-6, Boeing B377 Stratocruiser, Boeing 317 Clipper. Anything with big round engines.

I have never flown on any of the Russian aircraft; I would love to fly on any of these! The Tu-114 long-range turboprop is particularly appealing. Flying on that massive plane, with its on-board dining area, must have been quite an experience.

Concorde tops the list for sure!!!!!
Newer long-range types such as 777 and A340
Blasts from the past would be CV-990, Connie, DC-6 or 7, Viscount and Brittania

I like the sound of Fanofjets' Slow & Easys and that Tu-114. Also like Pronto... The Viscount is still my favourite aircraft that I HAVE flown in.
My votes:

Fast: Concorde
Slow: Curtiss C-46 Commando
Majestic: Hindenberg !!

Would love to fly on an L1011 and the Concorde. I guess I've already flown on any other models I have interest in (747-200s and 400s, 767, 777, MD-11, MD-8, 737, Airbus 310, 330, Fokker-100, and whatever KLM used for their CityHopper to Euroairport).

Believe it or not, in my 10 years of flying I have never been on a widebody  . Though i have been on a few classics, or soon to be. My laundry list of what i have flown is....
A320 (UA & HP)
B727-200 (UA & TW)
B737-300 (CO & SW)
B737-500 (CO)
B737-700 (CO)
B757-200 (UA & HP)
DC-9-10 the little stumpy one   (TW)
MD-82 (CO & TW)
ATR-42 (TransStates: TWE)

So I am looking foreward to the day that I get a widebody... but in the meantime it looks like a lot of MD-80s, 737s, and 320's.

J41. Anyways I'm going on one to JFK next year. Maybe the 753 as well.

Too bad the 731 is out. I would have liked to go on that plane again.

Would have given my eyeteeth for a trip on a Vickers VC-10.

Probably the most "exotic" planes I've flown on are the 737-100 (PE) and the Dash-7 (Pan Am Express).

Ooh! Almost forgot: DO-228 or 328JET

I'm with you LHMARK.

I flew London-Bermuda in the 70's as a teenager and was gutted to be travelling on a BA747-100 and not a VC-10, even though it was my first 747 flight!!

Also never made it on to a DC-8 although was lucky enough to fly Monarchs' 720's.

As a trijet fan, I still have to make it on a MD-11 or a DC10-10. There's still hope I'll get a flight on a MD-11 somewhen with Delta, but it is kind of hard to get on a DC10-10 if you want to get miles for your Frequence Plus account (plus if you're lving in Europe).

As I've flown on many modern airliners,
here are these I haven't flown on (and I wish so):

-Boeing 727 (before the're gone!)
-Boeing 757
-Airbus 310
-Airbus 330/340 !!!
-MD 11 - my favourite !
-Fokker 50/70/100
-plus some oldies e.g. DC8,DC3,Connie etc.

I would love to take a flight on a Lockheed Constellation. I know Save-a-Connie has one fully restored in TWA colours, and they fly their members around in it from time to time.

I'd also love to experience Russian airliners of the '50s and '60s, ie Ilyushin IL18, Tupolev TU114 and TU104. I've read that both the TU114 and TU104 were quite lavishly fitted as far as their cabins, and they were quite nice. Somewhat of a contradiction for a Communist airliner.

I'd give my eye teeth to fly aboard the CV880 and CV990. I wonder when/if we will ever see one restored to flying condition.

Would love to fly on the A340 or the 777 one day.

Have been on...
747-400 (all the time), 747SP, one of the 747 classics
A300 (B4?)
A320
767 (several types)
DC-9
MD-11
may have been on a 757.

These were all before I started paying attention, so I don't know which series they all are.
