are you traveling from LAS
or will you already be in the Grand Canyon area? listed above are your obvious choices from LAS
, I don't think anybody mentioned Vision Air as well from the North Las Vegas airport. Otherwise, let's look at if you are in the Canyon vicinity. If directly in Grand Canyon, you'll most likely be on the south rim where the airport is. The airport is just 2-3 miles south of the canyon in the community of Tusayan. From there, I have flown the Twin Otters of Grand Canyon Air which was a great flight. Only problem, the flight we were booked on they canceled because they didn't feel like they had enough people so we had to wait for the flight the next hour to max out the a/c. Trip was great, but I do hear that is a frequent occurence there. Also in the area are a couple helicopter operators which are most likely more personal since they don't hold as many passengers, and also on the field is Air Grand Canyon which flies high wing Cessna 206 a/c which at max hold 8 pax I think. Air Grand Canyon, based upon availability, I think they are the company that does grant airline discounts based on load factor. Another option is that Air Grand Canyon does offer flights also from Prescott, AZ
and I believe there is also a company that does offer flights from either Sedona or Scottsdale, AZ
if either of those are on your travel plans.
Also becoming very popular, tourists have been using more and more the Grand Canyon Railway which departs Williams, AZ
just south of the canyon on I40 by about 60 miles or so. Historical trainride north to the canyon, and from there, numerous packages are offered to fill your day from a hiking tour down into the canyon to an IMAX package to a flight package to an overnight dinner/hotel package. Train returns mid evening.
Let me know if you need anymore help, I live in Prescott which is just under a two hour from the canyon
