Gun Groups Boycott Air Canada Over Firearms Fee

Wed Jun 21, 2006 2:07 am

Air Canada is getting heat from gun groups who believe that imposing a fee to check their guns in is discrimination against gun owners.

Gun owner here.
No big deal, but the $50 fee doesn't really reflect the time involved. Only takes a couple of minutes. $5 or $10 seems more reasonable. But if you have spent thousands lining up a guided hunt, what's $100 to ship your $$$ weapons? If that fee is going to bust your budget, maybe you shouldn't be going.

I love the way they try to bring the Olympic shooters into the debate. Ohh those poor underprivilged athletes. I remember a big cry over figure skaters not being able to bring their sharpened blades onto the plane. Poor babies.

Sort of like complaining about the price of gas as you drink your $4 coffee.
