To my friends the Avioncitos...
My wife (who is from Mexico) and I will probably be moving to Mexico within the next several years. All of my wife's family is from Mexico City, so we will probably move to that area, but would consider other areas as well.
My question is, how hard is it for a U.S. ex-patriate to get a job at a Mexican airport? I know there are pretty strict rules about foreigners getting work. I have 27 years of airport experience, ranging from public relations, operations, noise abatement, etc. But most of my experience is in airport dispatching and security (monitoring of access control systems, closed circuit television systems, use of radio and telephone systems, etc.) My Spanish is decent.
What are my chances? I have been at RNO for 25 years and two years at MHT before that, but I would really like to work at a large hub airport. I just love the widebodies and the international flights, and we just don't get those things at RNO. I love MEX for its excitement and diversity, no matter what anyone says about needing to expand it or replace it.
Hell, I would even consider volunteering in an information booth or something like that at a later point in time when I was able to collect my RNO pension.
¡Saludos y mil gracias!
