AS 734 Freighter Arrives Today

Sun Jun 25, 2006 3:39 am

The recently modified 734 freighter will be arriving SEA about 1220 Saturday
if you're in the neighbohood.
It should be at SEA for the next 4 days before heading north to ANC.

So I was just noticing on it's return flight to SEA, the equipment code was listed as a B373. Is this going to be a new equipment code in the FAA tables? Currently no such code exists as shown at http://www.faa.gov/atpubs/CNT/5-2-B.htm

Thanks,

I see the 734 as a very good airplane to be reconfigured to a CARGO version.

I wish. It isn't getting a special paint job aside from the "Alaska Air Cargo".

Perhaps they will capitalize on the "Gold Streak Cargo" Name.

Anybody know if this or any of the other conversions has been through BHM? I've seen one or more (don't know if they were the same) all white 737s fly in and out here lately and was wondering if they were AS birds. Unfortunately I haven't been close enough to get the reg on any of them.

Twice I've seen them parked from a distance at the old cargo area. Of course this probably means that they're not from AS as you'd expect them to park at PEMCO.

No big deal but I was curious.
Where are all of my respected members going?

The B734SF is a Boeing modification designation that was retired. Those airplane modifications would have been engineered by Boeing, but the touch labor may have been done elsewhere. I don't think Boeing engineers worked on Alaska's 734 Freighter mod.

I don't think that Boeing owns the SF suffix. Atlas and a couple of other operators have 747 converted to freighter configuration by Flight Structures using it's own engineering and STC. These planes were re-identifed as SF.
