Air Canada Edmonton-Europe Flights In September

Mon Jun 26, 2006 12:07 pm

The Star Alliance timetable program reports that Air Canada is flying daily Edmonton-Frankfurt and twice daily Edmonton-London Heathrow services from 21-30 September. Why is this?

It's also loaded in AC's RES system. Could be a computer glitch, or simply the flight is operating via YEG to capitalize on very heavy end of Summer connection loads as they have rights to operate the route.

Similary during the Winter Olympics there was a FCO-YYZ that operated via MXP to pick up atheletes and journalists returning home.

HMMM. Strange!!

It is because of runway repairs happening in YYC at that time. Due to the shorter runway, they can only take off with limited fuel onboard, hence the stop in YEG.
