Why So Few Russian Airlines In Zurich?

Mon Jun 26, 2006 11:50 pm

ZRH has only a 1x daily Aeroflot flight and a summer only 2 x weekly Pulkovo flight...Isn't there enough traffic?

Swiss is flying 3x daily aren't they? Well, they are not Russian but that makes it 4x daily SVO and DME.

Add to that that many people simply refuse going to Russia or VIA Russia as long as you need to get a visa.

I am currently in process of getting a visa. It is a pain in the ass and it costs a few hundred Francs to get "official" invitations, visa etc.

Beautiful country and great people though.

Because the swiss people only fly swiss international airline on board their european airbusses...no way we get on board on of those russian built aircrafts.

Don't panic, it's just swiss humour. By the way switzerland is playing right now against ukraine (soccer)

Russians will probably back Switzerland over Ukraine. Similarly to how the Norwegians will back anybody against Sweden. A funny anecdote is that I once was flying to Moscow via ZRH from BOS and was connecting onto Aeroflot (737-400 at the time) from ZRH-SVO, and the LX agent in Boston was horrified and put me on Swiss ZRH-DME for free. RJ100, you are right about the visas!
