New LAN Chile Route Map

Tue Jun 27, 2006 1:08 am

LAN Chile updated its website with a new route-map.
I've looked into the changes for Argentina operations, and the map now shows a direct connection between EZE and MIA.
Other novelties are flights from AEP via BRC to USH, flights to FTE (from AEP and BRC). Interesting is the FTE-BRC leg, I know this route is sold out completely during the summer months on AR.

Also new is the route-map for LA's domestic operations, which was lacking before.
The route-map can be found here .

FYI:
FTE = El Calafate
BRC = San Carlos de Bariloche

I bet they are still operated, though they do not show up in the new route map.
The USH-AEP flight can already be booked online (via BRC); try a random date in December for example. It's operated by an A320. The FTE routes are not in the system yet.

I agree. LA is a member of One World, and it should consider expanding its European network to LHR. LA no longer no longer faces direct competition from LH on the SCL-FRA route. If LA added LHR to its network, it would be the only airline flying from SCL to two major European hubs, LHR and FRA. One World partners LA and IB dominate the route between SCL and MAD. Under such conditions, LA's routes to Europe would be very profitable.

The main problem of that is the demand. The demand from Chile, Peru and Ecuador to Europe is not that big (only MAD has good demand). Sometimes, south american companies make a stop on GRU or GIG before proceed to Europe. Maybe SCL/GRU(GIG)/LHR or SCL/GRU(GIG)/LIS would be a solution to this problem.

LA aircraft does not fly to LHR. LHR is on the map as a codeshare with other One World airlines, such as IB or BA, which carry LA passengers from MAD to LHR.

True, and Paris is in Switzerland just as much as Zurich is in Austria.  Silly

It's a much better route map than it used to be, but still, I miss a lot of things.. as said, MDZ and COR-SCL, IQQ-LPB. They add Finnair and CX logo, but nothing abouth flights to HEL or HKG, or all asian conexions with KE...

Nice map anyway

I see the cities are still not in the right locations. Shame, it is so unprofessional from an otherwise very professional airline. My personal favorite was/is the Pacific Northwest, with Portland in California, etc. Otherwise, nice to see them expanding.

Missing Miami-Punta Cana flights. Also, if you click Miami, the Bogota route doesn't show, but when you click Bogota, the Miami route shows.

I remember seeing an old LAN route map that had SCL located closer to EZE than SCL!
56 types. 38 countries. 24 airlines.

Wow, I know Rome wasn't built in a day, but now it's on the Adriatic coast! Yikes! At least they didn't turn the world upside down like the Argentines or Ozzies do! He! He! Embarrassment

It's really rare to see SCL-CUN-HAV as flown by them. AFAIK... LA stopped CUN a few months if not years ago... last time seen was back in 2003. More over I'm not so sure Mexican DOT will approve a CUN-HAV. Weird! Arcano can you confirm LA's status in the SCL-CUN flight? Nice map though!

Where can I find more info for Isla de Pascua?

Yes Arcano, I am also interested in knowing more about LA's CUN operations (present or future). Somewhere else I read something about a MIA-CUN-BOG-SCL flight (or something similar) but I am thinking maybe it is cargo. Can you tell us whether CUN is right now an active LA passenger service destination and, if so, from which cities it is served. Thanks a lot!
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

LAN never advertises that it flies to Port Stanley as a strategic measure to avoid any political risk that may arise mostly with the Argentine public. Can you imagine being on a LAN Argentina flight and looking at the in magazine (LAN's on-board mag), and on the international route map there was connecting line that read --LAN vuela a "Port Stanley" Falkland Islands.-- I'm sure any little thing like this would cause controversy for LAN's operation in Argentina.

Of course, LAN wouldn't want to offend the Islanders either, but LAN is the the best choice for them, or for anyone else who wants to visit the small Island.

I think it's a wise move. As a business, its better to avoid the whole issue and not offend anyone's feelings with touchy political situations. LAN has learned the hard way from its Peru operation to stay away from controversies and be respectful about each others differences. Being a successful company means having common sense!

LAN Dominicana is now LAN Argentina, but, yes, LAN Chile still flies MIA-PUJ with full traffic rights. Saturdays during off-peak/Saturdays and Sundays during peak.

The flight is actually SCL-HAV-CUN-MIA and SCL-CUN-MIA. I was a pax of that flight in 2004 and it was great, PTV's in both directions. The flight now has a 1x frequency, on saturday

Perfect answer. I also watched yesterday that LAN still flies to Salta and USH, wich I thought were only seasonal.
