FedEx Employees Question

Wed Jun 28, 2006 2:49 am

If there are any FedEx employees out there, I am curious to find out if employees (and/or relatives) get any privileges to fly in FedEx flights. If my understanding is correct, I believe that there are a few seats available in some cargo a/c and was wondering if FedEx lets employees fly for free or little charge (maybe in the jumpseat?).

Thanks for any help on this (probably stupid) question.

Cheers

Relative here. No jumpseat privs, not now. Not ever. My dad could, and had to to commute to ANC, as he was a FX pilot. IIRC, he said the only people who could jumpseat were other pilots, inst, mech. and maybe pilots from other airlines. But it's been a few yrs.

Jumpseat used to be a perk of the job. The employee could go anywhere in the world on a FX jet. Right after 9/11 it was suspended, for a short period it was reinstated domestically but as of today it is a pipe dream.

The closest I get to jump seating is when i unload and reload and sit in those 4-5 jumpseats to take a break!!!!!!! I took advantage of the jumpseat about 1.5 years ago. But they got rid of that again!! Here in IND we had quite a few jumpseaters while it last.

Doesn't Fedex use them for company business as well?, iirc, when I interviewed with Corp. in MEM, they said that at times I might be flying on Fedex Jets as apposed to comercial when I travel.... anyone know for sure?

What I heard from our FedEx driver, (He is new so he is probably not a reliable source) was that FedEx has an agreement with Jet Blue and that employees can fly any where for $25 each way.

If he is wrong, I figured. If he is right, I am jealous. (Of the cheep flights anyway).

Fedex Jumpseating was cancelled after a disgruntled employee tried to kill a flight crew on FedEx Flight 705 MEM-SJC. A transcript of the CVR can be found here: http://www.tailstrike.com/070494.htm
