Brazilian E-195 Certification Expected Tommorrow

Fri Jun 30, 2006 12:15 am

Brazilian certification of the Embraer 195 is scheduled for June 30, completing development of the manufacturer’s family of small airliners.

Approval for the fourth and largest member of the E-170/190 family will come 24 months after delivery of the first E-Jet, president and chief executive Mauricio Botelho told the Aero Club of Washington, DC today.

With 160 E-Jets delivered to 13 operators worldwide, Botelho believes the restructuring of US network carriers will lead to large orders for the 70- to 118-seat family. “The scope clause relaxation made possible [by the restructuring] will increase the number of high-capacity aircraft that by their affiliates,” he says.

Cool, way to go Embraer, does that mean FlyBe are closer to getting their first one? Any other airlines ordered the E195?

What configuration (number of seats) will Flybe use on their 195s? And what aircraft currently flying the routes would they compete with?

I'd love to see passanger comments on the 195s vs 735/6s or A318/9s.

Congrats Embraer!! The E190 is proving to be a great a/c so far and getting better w/ every delivery, I am sure the E195 will be no different.

2 interesting points from the EMB release...

Only 475 flight hours on two EMBRAER 195s were necessary to complete the campaign, including development and certification flight tests.

The final configuration became lighter and fuel burn is also better than expected...

With having just received certification, it is still to early to speculate about an E195 stretch... however, it would be interesting!

FYI, There have been several A.net pax posts and flight reports with pictures on the E-jets.

This is wonderful news and overall a great achievement with certification now granted to all four members of the E-jets family. It is amazing to see how many new products they have launched since the ERJ-145. Embrer has been going full throttles recently with their penetration into general and buisness aviation, and a bit quite recently on announcing new the E-jets orders. Hopefully they have some good news to announce for Farnborough.
