Thanks for the feedback, I believe those of you who say that they are the "danger" areas of the jetbridges are correct.
However, this does raise one interesting question though. Why don't the inner gates (gates 7-18) have the "danger" areas?

During winter in can be chilly afaik and you even have snow in the mountains.
Beirut in the winter gets wet and muggy, but not cold enough to the point that there is a high level of freezing.
It does snow in the mountains at the high altitudes.
