SkyEurope Launches Two New Swiss Routes

As per winter schedule SkyEurope is going to launch two new routes to/from Basel/Mulhouse airport. Flights are not bookable yet but will go on sale very soon.

-Basel-Cracow-Basel NE426/NE427 BSL 20:40- 21:10 every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with B-737-700.

-Basel-Budapest-Basel 5P428/5P429 BSL 14:45-15:15 every Monday
8:50-9:20 every Wednesday and Friday
10:00-10:30 every Sunday with B-737-300

-Basel-Bratislava-Basel will see an increase from 4 weekly to five weekly flights. The route will be served every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with B-737-500.

It appears as if WizzAir will be next to join the low fare carriers in BSL. There are currently talks between WizzAir and the airport.

What's next? Warsaw? Gdansk? Wroclaw? Bukarest?  Smile  Smile  Smile

Zagreb? Belgrade? Split?
There are lots of possible routes that could really work. Nice to see a small expansion from Sky Europe. Basle is certainly a perfectly located destination.

And I suppose Easyjet may always consider the likes of Split, Warsaw, Krakow or Budapest in the future from Basle?

Croatia is a fast growing holiday destination from Switzerland. Charter flights ex BSL increased this summer compared to last year. Not to forget that a lot of people with Croatian roots live in Switzerland. Would not be surprised to see it happen.

As for Belgrade, if everything works fine then Centavia (new Serbian low fare airline) will launch BSL-Belgrade per winter schedule.

By the way, Cracow and Budapest have never been served out of BSL. Together with Prague (easyJet), Belgrade (Centavia) and Bratislava (SkyEurope), the airport offers a choice of Central European destinations that we have never seen in history.  Smile

The route to Cracow will be the only connection between Switzerland and this Polish city.

Zadar is now also bookable from Basel- via Bratislava- but they check you and your luggage through.

That means following SkyEurope destinations are available from BSL:

-Bratislava 5x weekly direct
-Cracow 3x weekly direct
-Budapest 4x weekly direct
-Kosice via Bratislava
-Zadar via Bratislava

Other news are that SkyEurope launches three times weekly Salzburg-Paris Orly flights.

Innsbruck-Paris Orly flights however will be dropped.

They will also drop the Bratislava to Stuttgart route.  Sad

I won't start a new thread for this one but Royal Air Maroc has just announced twice weekly services between Basel and Marrakech (operated by Atlas Blue). Two weekly flights to Casablanca will inaugurated with the summer schedule in 2007 with Royal Air Maroc's own aircraft.

After 15 years, Royal Air Maroc is back in Basel. Welcome back!  Smile
