Jet Airways - Amritsar To London - Postponed

Sat Jul 01, 2006 6:19 am

Jet Airways was due to begin new flights from Amristar to London Heathrow this Wednesday, the plans have been postponed indefinitely!

I guess this is due to the Sahara/Jet Airways deal being cut?

The 767 was going to operate the route, looks like we will have a further wait for Amristar to London links  Sad

At least we still have AI at BHX from Amristar Smile

What will the futures of Sahara and Jet mean to LHR services?

Great...

Aren't Jet getting A332? Surly that could do the route instead? Same range, same capacity, more comfortable (debatable)?

They've already got it and it is not being used on this sector. Somebody, please correct me if wrong, but A332 is to be used on BOM-LHR sector.

Dont you think that 9W too has landed themselves in a mess they would have much rather avoided? Its no fun to be in Indian courts with your name starring in the newspapers daily soaps page and a lot of soiled underwear being hung out to dry outside the Supreme Court.

They are in a business where if they just loose out to court deals, they will eventually be eliminated. Acquiring is the way to increase ones market share easily and safely. 9W would have had the biggest slice of the pie in the Indian skies if the deal would have gotten through. You have to take chances, specially in the Indian aviation sector.

I suspect the aircraft won't be released to Sahara until they come to a resolution on 500 crores in the escrow.

Or until they find out where to put the aircraft profitabily, the DEL-LHR-DEL flight the last i heard was averaging loads of less than 35%, with most of those being the pax who had booked the 17,500 ticket.

My boss just flew J Class on 9W on that sector (you tend to strange things if you have FF) and he said he was one of four people in that cabin, even though on the return journey the cabin was fuller. Plus he did mention service was very good!

As per data from MIDT (market intelligence data tapes), since coming online to LHR, 9W has emerged the market leader for LHR far outstripping the hitherto market leader BA by almost 1.5 times. They have even emerged as the preferred carrier for the premium classes as well again beating BA comfortably.

Sure is, they seem a great airline! I wish I could use them when I travel to S.E Asia, but I'm not sure on how good DEL or BOM is to transfer at?

Does anyone know the average loads on the BOM-LHR and DEL-LHR flights?

Will Jet or Sahara begin additional LHR flights either from current served airports, or new Indian airport such as MAA or BLR?  Smile

What does the future hold for S2's long haul ops, can we expect a flop, or a continuation?

yea i think the S2 767 is still in it S2 colours. And i cannot help but agree about 9W flight to LHR being great. I travelled with them in November and the in-flight catering was very good, the best being there in-flight entertainment system.

S2 opns on DEL-LHR were suspended in late-April if I'm correct just before Rono left the airline. Don't know anyone who flew the airline but one comment that I was told is that S2 was cheaper (or as cheap) than flying one of the CIS carriers.

I don't think it ever got painted into 9W colours.

On another note, can anyone correct me on this - the lease that Jet has signed with SAA for the 343's lasts till mid-2007 right?

Is 9W selling tickets on the DEL-ATQ sector? Or is it originating in BOM?

9W is using their A332 on the ATQ - LHR sector and that too only 3 days a week - Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays... rest of the days this aircraft will operate on the DEL - LHR sector making the A343 free to be deployed on the BOM - LHR sector. Naresh Goyal is going to be in the country soon to inaugurate the new flight...

So, to answer your question... no ... the flight will originate in ATQ itself and direct to LHR...

If this is from the website, it must be true.

That would also mean that 9W would be using the 332 solely for the ATQ-LHR route and the 343s for the BOM/DEL-LHR flights.
That would be really full utilisation of all aircrafts.

I've just checked an online flight availability site, and the ATQ-LHR flight is showing up as 'Operated by Boeing 767-300ER'.

Is this a mistake, or is this for real?

Does anyone know if S2 have been handed back their ex-UA 763?

Also, I've just read an article on The Times of India online, in which Jet officials say:

"We will be using our Airbus A330 aircraft for this service now. The frequency has been reduced in view of the aircraft inavailability."

Confusing to say the least!
Anyone know what is going on?
