The colours seem to suit her, not sure why but the FlyBE part on the tail looks a little squeezed in!?

I will miss flying on those BAe 146’s they are great! Flew on one the other day from Spain to Southampton, great aircraft!

Does anyone know the stopping distance of the 195? Two of the FlyBE crew were chatting about the 195 Southampton operations and some modifications they are making to the stand area to accommodate her (something about only two stands can be used for that size of aircraft)?

Look forward to her arrival in the UK

Dana.

I cant wait when these start flying in to Belfast City! Although I will miss the BAe 146's, which have been around since my plane spotting days as a child Big grin. Gone are the Jersey European F27's and shorts 360's and now finally the BAe 156's  Sad  Sad  Sad Ahhh the good old days!

Nice colours though. How will they fly the 195's across the atlantic? Extra fuel tanks or with a stop somewhere in the atlantic (what stops are there?)

Miss the 146? Are you mad - six abreast in a plane that was only designed for five?! No, I can't wait to see the back of it - appalling little things. The sooner they end up as beer cans, the better! (Actually, the metal used on planes can't actually be used as beer cans, in which case the 146 doesn't even have that use!)

Anyway, down here in sunny (and hot!) Jersey, we're looking forward to seeing the new 195 in service. The first aircraft is due to begin service from Birmingham (considerably before anyone else - says he, in finest Harry Enfield Brummese!), then Southampton, then somewhere else. Hopefully, we'll see them on Jersey-Gatwick before the year is out.

With regard to another major E-195 customer, Swiss, does anyone know what the story is? I know they have been gathering some ex-BA RJ100s recently, but do they intend to go ahead with the E-195 order?

Also, what will the timetable code for the 195 be? E95, most likely, or 195? (I'm guessing the former, as the 170 is the E70).

The E195 looks really nice. On E's website the stats say that only 70 pax can be carried if the E195 is to have its full range of 2,100nm... if flyBe is putting 118 pax in their aircraft, then how far can they fly then? flyBe wants to use the E195 to open new routes further south in Europe, but will the aircraft have the range to do it? I guess flyBe doesn't want to fly with 30-48 empty seats...?

They do not have extra fuel tanks. They just simply fly from Brazil and stop many times en-route. Im guessing something like this...

I hope that they use them from Exeter, and open new routes to Germany as has been whispered around here.

Dad works for flybe maintenance here at EXT, and he got a look around a 195 and 175 last year when they popped in from the Paris Air Show, and he was very impressed with what he saw. The Concorde style Rams-horn yoke, the glass cockpit, the impressive climbout, he said it was awesome...... Shame I was working at Plymouth that day..........!

No, only the 170 (and I'm not even sure that it has been certificated for LCY yet) can do London City; however, it's not an issue for BE, as it no longer flies into City.

The ferry route is more likely to be Recife then Sal and up the Atlantic coast.

That's a real nice scheme for FlyBE, even nicer looking than AC's. I've got to say that Embraer has really developped a superior product in this passenger range with their 170, 190 and 195. I flew on an AC Embraer 170 last year, just after the airline had taken delivery of it and it was really comfortable, nothing like the CRJ. Here's a bit of hometown pride here, but it's a shame that Bombardier didn't develop an aircraft like Embraer did sooner.

How is the E195 different from the E190?

I've flown on the JetBlue E190 and it is a pretty sweet ride. You never forget that you are in a small(er) tube, compared to say the A320, but it doesn't feel cramped. Except if you use the front lav, but thats another story.

I'm looking forward to the 195, and yes, it will be with a camera (should watch my wording!).

In defense of the 146, I always liked travelling on them. Great short-field performance, smooth trailing-link gear, and a gentle ride all round. Plus, they're British, and that still counts for something to me!

I'm sure therer are also differences in payload and range too.
