Those are the Saffro Group's main birds, I wonder what will replace them. They're based out of UES by the big hanger just off 10/28 on the west side of the airport. But beware these are Mx hogs.  Wink

The listing says these are Stage II noise compliant. Does that mean that they can't fly into most airports, since most require Stage III?

Min bid is $2,250,000.00 though.

Odd thing is that the only other auctions this guy has going are for concert tickets. WTF? I'm guessing it's legit though as he's got good feedback and isn't a noob.

Agree about the Stage II comment - lack of Stage III hushkits make this a difficult deal to sell. Plus, there are such small numbers of 1-11s flying now that maintenance going forward is going to get harder (and more expensive). Add to this the fuel that the old Spey engines like to drink and, as much as I hate to say it, these birds won't be flying for long. Shame. But, hard economic fact.

To prove that I'm not a total troll, I will follow up my previous comment by saying:

It's a shame that these planes have come down to selling on eBay. Such circumstances indicate that they found no buyers on the used/classic bizjet market.

Also, it seems to me that anyone looking to buy a pair of planes at that price isn't going to bother with 40 year old aluminum that's going to be a maintenance headache from the get-go, unless they are willing to strip them to the stringers and rebuild them, which will put them in the price ranges for planes with a lot fewer years under their wings.

There have been other aicraft selling on ebay. An Avro Vulcan was sold, although it was in a complete state and the buyer had to remove it from its resting place (I forget where, although it was some airport in the UK).

Also I have seen a yellow Mig 29 on sale for roughly one million dollars.

Nice way to pick up a cheap plane.

Out of interest...what is the address of the military version of ebay where you can pick up second hand military equipment such as old aircraft etc etc?

Stage II - Actually not as big a problem as you may think. That is the reason for the 75K maximum gross weight. Aircraft under this weight do NOT have to comply to Stage III. The only restriction you would face is there are a handfull of airports that have been able to ban Stage II a/c (i.e. some Californis airports), through expensive court action. While you would not be able to operate into every airport at any time, you could probably do so 95% of the time. Even at a Million Bucks per a/c, they are quite a bargain. Check out the price of a comparable corporate jet these days!

Not to mention you get a LLC that holds a clean part 125 certificate as part of the deal as an added bonus.

Would be a shame to see them go, they are a regular ramp fixture @ UES. Oddly they are stored outside the majority of the time, they are quite ramp queens as I rarely see them out. They were used heavily during the 2004 Presidental Campaign.

The are indeed owned by the Safro group, with the primary business concern being Automotive Sales.

Only a 135 certificate can generate enough revenue to finance such an aircraft imo.

Serious bidders should consider that both planes are not RVSM equipped. At least another half-a-mil per plane for that...unless you want to burn fuel stuck at FL280. Best place for these planes would be Africa.

Right now N200EE is sitting at BJC (Jefferson County) here in Colorado. Just yesterday I took my first flight in a G-1000 equipped C-172S, and there sitting on the ramp was this BAC 1-11!!

I only remember the N-number because of how hard that would be to say on the radio!! "Two zero zero echo echo".....would get old after some time!!

So, funny thing this thread got posted.....I had no idea it was for sale!!

One of them was actually Braniffs FIRST One-Eleven, which SHOULD make it a candidate for some sort of preservation at least. The other has ALWAYS been an exec'/private transport, having originally been delivered to Tenneco.

Nice old birds - I hope, (though I doubt), that they manage to find a good new, caring home!

Anybody can buy any plane that is for sale. The fact that it is not on ebay would not prevent a terrorist from buying one.

there are many businesses that specialize in selling on ebay for individuals.
examples:

http://www.auctiondrop.com/

Its possible that this seller is an auction listing service. Although his online name is "learjetkid"...

Holy crap that thing is nice!!! It could make some REAL bad habits though!! We were going to enter on a right base for 29R, and tower told us #2 cleared for landing behind a Conquest.....so, instead of looking outside for him, my first reaction was to look at that moving map and see where he was!!

So, quite the nice system, but it promotes laziness!! Sad thing is though, that G-1000 probably is many times more complex than those BAC's combined!!

It was actually Blackpool Airport itself (BLK). In the end, the pub couldn't find the funds to move the aircraft and so it was recently sold for scrap and dismantled. Sad ending!
