Is Ryanair Reducing DUB-UK

Tue Jul 04, 2006 5:22 am

Whilst trawling Ryanair's flights for NOV i was surprised to find that there were no flights from Dublin to Varies UK cities such as BHX EMA MAN but other airports were on sale...STN.LTN.LPL.GLA so Have they decided that the Irish sea does not give the returns?? I have tried this question before but have been asked to change the heading. I am still interested to find out whether they will or wont be flying several UK-DUB routes in the winter..Anyone know? They are on sale for all other routes from EMA so it is confusing....

Up until Christmas they had 732's which operated most Ireland-UK routes, now the 732's are gone and they have a the 738's which hold more passenger's, what the difference is I don't know.

My guess is during the winter some of these destinations have too little traffic for a 738, it is only a guess.

You'll find that DUB-UK-DUB is of fundamental importance to FR. Indeed, just a few years ago - when it didn't fly nowhere near what it does now between the two - it was worth 30-50% (I forget precisely what) of its total annual revenue. Moreover, it was deemed that its DUB-UK-DUB flights subsidised its remaining network. That gap has now diminished, but it still exists, although I don't know to what extent.

1) You're talking November here, that's the winter timetable the flight simply won't be released yet! 2) FR don't fly to GLA.

It is interesting to note that.

If it is the case, they will not publicise the fact that they drop routes, no doubt they will blame high charges for dropping routes.

RE will jump at the opportunity to take up any FR routes dropped.

The 738 has created a 45% increase in capacity which may be hard to fill up. 189 seats compared to 120 on a 732.

Just Checked ABZ, BOH, BRS and BLK and all are showing no flights, i suspect that they may just be preparing a Winter Schedule change.

I would suggest that the reason is a simple as they have not yet decided on the frequencies to be operated between Ireland and the UK. As has been said by Pe@rson, these routes are fundamental to Ryanair and as with all carriers, but particularly the low-cost carriers, schedule changes are advised to the public in incremental stages and not all in one announcement. All carriers announce schedule changes "when the clock changes", that being twice a year.

Didnt we have a similar situation with this summers flights? And they all got released in the end. Probably just a case of being patient
