Largest Current L-1011 Operator

Tue Jul 04, 2006 8:49 am

Who currently operates the most L-1011s? I know that Delta was formerly the largest operator of the L-1011, until they were replaced by the 767-400ER.

Maybe its Hewa Bora Airlines? It seems like all the pictures of them in the database I see are L-1011s.

Probably wrong, though.

Air Rum has a fleet of 5 aircraft and Sky Gate Internaitonal has a fleet of 4 aircraft operating. Both fleets consist of mainly former Delta aircraft.

Are we talking about "operating" as in "regularly in use"? Like TZ's flying-constantly L1011s? Or are we talking about "very occasionally used, when they are working, for occasional low-revenue missions like the Hadj?" Air Rum. Riiiiight.

All 5 are based in Beirut, but when I was in Amman for a few days in May, I saw one of them there.

When I got back to Beirut, I saw one on approach, probably the same one that I saw in Amman.

What I know is that Globejet is in the business of wet-leasing, both short-term and long-term.

You can find out more information on their website:
